Alexa isn't a treasure trove of information as the commercials make her out to be (which is my reasoning for only 4 stars), but controlling/setup of home automation products like Philips Hue, Wemo, Nest couldn't be much simpler. Absolutely love it!

I have this hooked up to my nest and smart lights. I say some specified words and it turns up or down or on off... Perfect... Also plays music when you ask...

The Echo Dot delivers as promised. What fun to have Alexis respond to your every command. Especially useful for playing music from Spotify on our Bose Mini SoundLink.

Works just as described!!! I purchased this to use with my Smart Things products and control my lights etc. the speaker is actually really good for being small also.

I have 3 dots around the house now and I’m slowly but surely turning this house into a smart home. Very easy to set up and use. Great price as well

A key component to starting a Smart Home system is somehow getting the devices to work together. The Echo Dot is the most affordable and convenient way to control devices such as your smart thermostat and light together. By enabling different "skills" on the Dot, you can simply tell the Dot the increase the temperature or turn on your lights. Aside from controlling your smart devices, you can listen to music and order from Amazon. There is a lot this little device can do. I have bought 4 and placed them in key rooms in my house so that I can "talk" to the Alexa interface no matter where I am in my home.

Was, at first, skeptical about this item. But find it to be extremely useful and entertaining. So much so, that I purchased another one for use in my garage/workshop.

We bought this for my son's room so he can listen to music, set his own alarms and use all the other features Alexa provides. He has been very happy with it.

I purchased this item for a gift exchange and it was definitely the gift that was in high demand and everyone wanted to steal. Great product and great price.

She is so much fun, very helpful, fills my home with music but needs a hearing aid! Last night I hurt her feelings by scolding her for not responding when she was only 2 feet from my head. But when she does respond. She is the perfect housemate.

This is a great starting out Alexa device if your not huge on technology or just starting to convert your home to a smart home. Works great for our kids

easy to use and really responsive my voice commands, though I'm still learning the proper way to phrase things Alexa will recognize. So far, I really like the device

I Got two of these for the holidays as gifts for my parents and inlaws.

We have other connected devices and this one was flawless to integrate into our ecosystem. My wife loves how easy it is to use and helps while hands are full or dirty.

I use the Echo constantly- as a timer in the kitchen, weather information, NPR in the morning. My son uses it to check his math homework in the evening. Great device!

This smart device is really convenient for my daily routines. The device doesn't do much on its own; you enhance its abilities by adding "skills" to it through the Amazon Alexa app. Some of the skills include a Starbucks reorder skill, which reorders your favorite drink at a selected store, or the Lyft skill, which can order a Lyft to your address right away. Before adding skills, the Echo Dot has features like the ability to play music through Prime Music (or Amazon Music Unlimited if you are subscribed to it), order items from Amazon, set alarms and timers, or listen to a daily news briefing that includes your favorite news sources. At $50, the device is a fantastic way to dip your toes into the pool of AI and smart home devices, though I do wish the cost of the device was less. They would certainly sell many more if the price became more attractive.

I am very pleased with how easy it was to setup the Echo Dot working with Alexa. I also setup smart lighting using the Echo Dot and Alexa.......super easy!!!

Its nice to have on your desk or nightstand. I just wish the speaker had more power, I have cheaper wireless speakers that have more base than this. Also I wish it was rechargeable but its great for the starter dot.

Each day after a long day at work I come home and tell Alexa to play my jazz station. I set back and relax and enjoy the rest of my day.
