Extremely easy setup. Added thru the Alexa app. It updated it's own software automatically. I added this one in my bedroom so I can have the added use as an alarm clock. Very easy to use. I highly recommend it.

Im having fun using this echo dot. I hook up my philips hue, smart plug and my garage door. It makes my house easy to access lights, turn on appliances and ask alexa to open the garage. Try it and you'll like it!

Have enjoyed having Alexa in our home so far. She's a great addition to add voice control to other home automation products. I'm sure we haven't unleashed her full potential yet but has been a great experience.

For under $50 I have a voice command processor for my house that can control my Nest thermostat, my Wemo dimmers and more! What an amazing thing! It's easy to configure from an app on my android devices. Get one!

The echo dot is a fantastic little device and for a small price you can request your favorite music by voice command! You can make calls, also hands-free! The speaker allows music to fill even a large room. Got it for my elderly cousin so that if she takes another bad fall, she can just ask Alexa to call 911 or a family member. It was such a hit that got ones for my daughter, and nieces for Mother’s Day! Now my grandsons want one! Easy to set up! Great gift for a small price!

So, I fired Siri today. I'm not sure she understood, for she has never understood me. So, we did an 'uncoupling'. She didn't take it well, especially when she found out about Alexa, she somehow was back stalking my phone. Siri even tried to overpower Alexa, setting herself to a default setting, I never knew exsisted. I tried explaining that Alexa really listens to me, understands my wants and needs, even tells me jokes! Again, Siri said she couldn't understand me. As Alexa and I grew in our new relationship, she now takes care of most of my needs. She turns on my outside lights, she tells me if I need to leave for work earlier, due to weather

This is my plunge into the smart home. I already had an Ecobee smart thermostat and this Echo Dot works great in controlling it. I was also able to have Alexa control my Spotify playlists on my Sonos speakers.

It answers all my questions... my son loves it the most. helps with his homework.. everyone needs to have one at home!!!! I'm getting one for my sister and my brother... Try it out you'll fall in love with it.

This is my 3rd dot. I have them in 4 rooms which includes my original Echo. Awesome product for what they are for, a small speaker that gives you any internet information, music or weather anytime you want it.

Bought this for my Mom who is in “her upper years”...She is thrilled with the technology of course, but has really enjoyed this because it’s keeping her mind active by asking questions to see if Alexa knows the answer. I was thrilled with the low cost, and very happy with my decision to buy it for my Mom!

Integration with 3rd party apps is really good. For this price you cannot beat it. What is bad: Spotify if you are not a premium member then you cannot play music off it. However I just use Pandora instead

We added an Echo and 2 Dots to our home on Christmas Day and our lives will be forever changed! We are now obsessed with Smart Home automation: lights, bulbs, switches, thermostats, security cameras, doorbells...Amazon has really changed our daily lives for the better. The Dot also reads our audiobooks to us; schedules alarms; sets our calendars; keeps our shopping lists; plays our favorite music ON DEMAND and entertains us with various Skills. We are planning on adding 2 more Dots to our household soon.

The Echo Dot is everything we hoped it would be. Very easy to setup and pair with our Bluetooth speakers and Philips Hue lights. Now turning off the bedroom lights is as easy as telling Alexa "Turn off the bedroom lights". Never had the Clapper but I bet this is better. If you have a Prime membership you can tell her to play your favorite artist and she will start playing a selection of songs. We plan on picking up a couple more and perhaps the bigger version so we have access throughout the whole house!

I have these in 2 of my rooms upstairs! They control my HUE lights,and play me music,and I can even drop in on those rooms from my main floor using my original Echo! I definitely recommend my best friend Alexa!

It does so much ... but even if you only use it for a few basic tasks its well worth having. Gave one to my 70 yr old mother and she loves it. We use them to set alarms / timers / reminders, make shopping lists, fetch the time / weather / news, ask when the hockey game is on, fetch phone numbers, etc. About to jump into the home automation side with a wifi enabled thermostat, LED lighting, and assorted devices on power outlets. I see no reason to pay for a more expensive device, this one is hard to beat.

Absolutely love this gadget! It eliminate the need to use you phone to look up things or play music. You own personal assistance. I don't like that I can't play my music from cellphone personal list without downloading it to Amazon playlist. You have to have subscriptions with Pandora, Amazon Music, etc.

Added the Echo Dot for the bedroom to play music and turn lights on and off. Very convenient and easy to use. Any issues setting any part of it up, just search on the internet, lots of helpful tips out there.

This is my third Echo Dot and I already have two full size Echos. It is great for the areas away from the Echo, which in my case are located in family rooms. I have the Echo Dots in two bedrooms and one office. It is small and works just like the larger unit. My Dots are connected to Bose Bluetooth speakers which more than make up for the Dots' lack of quality sound for music. The Dots are fine for verbal responses to commands, however. I highly recommend the Echo Dot. You can't beat the low price either!

I am a late adopter of this whole connected home / IOT stuff, but I have to say that Alexa is fun. Right now it is more of a novelty, but I do see how it will become more integrated in our lives as we use it.

Works well but does not support Spotify free or google music. If you don’t have amazon prime or unlimited music or paid Spotify account, music selections are limited to radio stations on tune in or Pandora, or Bluetooth from your phone. Sound is sufficient for a bedroom but if you are an audiophile, you will want to hook it to a better speaker. Fortunately, unlike the google home mini, you can do so via Bluetooth or aux out. However, the google home mini does have the edge as far as sound quality of the speaker itself. Great for setting alarms or reminders, and the drop in feature is handy if you have multiple in a house. I love that I can wake up to a song I choose.
