They work great for programming lights in the house to go or off at specific times for when we go out of town, or just want a light on when we get home from work. We can ask Alexa, the name of the dot, to turn on a light in the upstairs bedroom before we get up there so it won't be dark. You can ask her to turn on or off a light in any room that has the special plug to program. There are MANY more functions such as asking her what the weather will be today, etc. You will enjoy it.
