I have an Echo, an Echo Tab, and 2 Dots. I bought my daughter an Echo and Echo Dot for Christmas. I thoroughly enjoy the whole system. I have used it for music playlists, ordering items, and answering numerous questions concerning all kinds of topics (and it is still learning). It will even wake you in the morning! It is a lot of fun. Since the Dot lacks the full speaker, its sound quality is different from the regular Echo, but really not too bad. You can attach speakers to it.

I got this for my mom and she will ask certain questions but mostly uses it to play music. Thinks it is wonderful that it plays song titles on demand or has stations that fit her request.

It does everything my echo does. Setting alarms, playing playlists from my music, controlling wemo switches, Hue bulbs very convenient. General knowledge questions are difficult for this.
