I bought the Echo Dot for the bedroom. It's a great product and works just as well as the Echo that I have downstairs.

If you like what Alexa and her skills (i.e., apps) can do for you, the Echo is likely the best way in. At $50 (or $40 during Black Friday), you get all of the full-fledged Echo's functionality except the good speaker. But that may not matter if you already have good speakers to hook up, or don't need to listen to music. The Dot's speaker is fine for that. One thing to note is that the new Echo Dot (2nd Gen) is cheaper because they replaced the volume ring with volume buttons.

I'm so glad we bought this. My kids, wife and I enjoy asking Alexa so many questions, weather, and to play music.

We use Alexa to control out TV and other smart home devices. Plus it makes playing music is a breeze.

Very small and compact and a great companion in the absence of others. My mother in law loves it as she talks to "Alexa" to give her the weather report, set reminders, ask questions to, etc.

Set up was easy. Still finding new things to do with Alexa. Fun to play with and helpful with lights and such.

Alexa on the Dot is quite the little helper. The setup is extremely easy. I am learning new things about Alexa every day. She keeps me updated on the weather, MN Twins, trivia, and other stuff. For the price of the Echo Dot, it is worth it. You may want to upgrade to her older sister who has a larger speaker. You can certainly find a reason to keep the family together or pass onto a family member or friend.. I definitely recommend the Echo Dot especially at a sale price

Added this to our house and works perfectly. The show was a little more difficult to set up, this was a breeze

we really enjoy it gets are cats looking around sometimes but all and all we like it very much. plan on buying more.
