I have the full size Echo and bought this for a second room. It works exactly the same and I have it connected to an external speaker. Love these products for controlling my lights.

It’s a fun and instant way to get quick access to past and current information. Sound is low when you play music but once you connect to a larger speak, you’re good to go!!

So let me start by saying that at first this thing is a blast. Everything you see on tv is right in line with what you will get, a cool gadget that has a few tricks. That being said, as far as being practical, it has a ways to go. Don't expect it to be anything more than an entertaining electronic toy for the most parts. It has useful tools but getting them to work seamlessly is anything but seamless and requires lot of time and setup and then you must learn the correct commands as it is not very intuitive in that way. I have a feeling this will improve with time however and I wouldn't discourage you from purchasing especially for the price.....

Works great! Adding features everyday. Plays music, turns on/off lights, even calls family and friends!

Works just like the original Echo. Understands more than I though it would. I liked it so much, I now have one in each bedroom and one on each other floor. The only con is the quality of the internal speaker. It doesn't have a lot of power and is a bit tinny. Fortunately, the Echo Dot has one ability not available in the original Echo - the ability to connect via Bluetooth (or 3.5mm cable) to an external speaker. I have one paired to a UE MegaBoom speaker, and it's AWESOME. I've knocked off one star for the bad internal speaker, but, if you have a decent bluetooth speaker to connect, it's a five-star item. You'll wonder how you lived without it.

My family loves Alexia! And the Dot is small enough to place anywhere. Great for school alarms, music and more!

Love, love, love. Plays any music you can think of. Has become my husband's best you, he pesters Alexa all day.

Pretty new to using Alexa, so I cannot say it is bad or good. I like playing music and being able to get weather and news updates when I ask. I am still learning what all I can do.

Impressed with its capabilities. Got it for my teenage daughter. Does all the things my big Alexa does.

Bought it as a gift for my wife..She listens to her music and have to say it has a good sound quality..

We use Alexa all day. She is super useful for any needs we use her mainly play music and bother our dog
