We enjoy using the echo dot for music in the kitchen and outside when we're grilling on the deck. Coupled with Amazon Music, we have access to music for any mood.

This unit is much better than the google unit because it is much easier to set up.

With Amazon Prime you get voice access to lots of music. Also, good if you have automated home products like light switches etc. Ok with Harmony remotes to turn on TV and other components most of the time. With two different Dots in two rooms if one isn't connected to speaker it sometimes starts playing music in the wrong room, but if both connected then works right. I bought some as gifts also. I enjoy telling Alexa to do things.

yes google home is good too but the echo just has better smart home integration currently.

The Amazon Echo dot is a nice digital assistant once you learn how to use it. It can do a lot of things, but many things have to be turned on to function. You have to enable features so that it can calculate distances, then one to tell you about movies for example. I would try to ask something and couldn't get an answer. Then I looked it up on the internet and figured out how to ask the right question or enable the right feature so that i could get my question answered. Now I'm getting used to it and do find it useful. I would recommend it as a nice entry level personal digital assistant.
