The dot has an amazing ability to understand me from nearly anywhere in the room. I like the fact that it is actively being developed to manage the connected home. I already set up a program to control my Sonos speakers simply telling the dot what room and what song to play (I had to program this myself)but it shows the endless possibilities that are out there with the dot and Alexa.

I now have a total of 4 echo dots and an echo tap in my home. The setup is easy doesn’t require a lot of tech savvy to pull off. My 4 yr old has latched onto its ability to play music and an impromptu dance party at his behest is not uncommon. My wife who isn’t too particularly fond of gadgets has also taken a liking to ordering staples from anywhere in the house from the amazon store. The drop in feature is also invaluable. Works seamlessly with my Phillips Hue lights as well as my ADT alarm system.

I bought this for my mother for Mother's Day since I already have 2 of them and we have Amazon Prime and Unlimited music. I would recommend this to anyone especially if you have Amazon Prime. We mostly use her to play music, check the weather, time, and our calendars and the shopping list. I hear my mom using her to play ocean waves as well. The only thing that sucks is that she groups our calendars and shopping lists together. Also sucks that she uses Bing as the search engine, but I am sure with future updates that will change.

I use Alexa mostly for home automation control. It works fairly well in that regard, but it is a bit finicky in how you name items. The dot is nice because it is small and cheap. The speaker quality is obviously not as good as my echo, but that is easy to overcome with attaching a speaker (corded or Bluetooth). The real shortcoming compared to the echo, is the microphone array. The echo is much better at picking up commands from a distance and getting them right. If you are coming from an echo, just be aware of the limitations of the dot.

Having fun with my echo dot. Easy setup. Clear sound from Alexa. Only issue is you have to maintain good internet or she will flake out as there is no buffer built in. But I plan to buy a couple more as I'm am pleased with it

Very Happy with our Echo Dot. Nice to have one upstairs also. Perfect for turning on the tunes, setting my alarm and turning on and off the lights!

Amazon Echo Dot is a wonderful assistant. Helps with everything from wake up alarm to weather report to music and even turning lights on and off.

Purchased for family members who are really enjoying it. My daughter received one from a friend, which is why I purchased it for two family members. My daughter asks Alexa to play music to relax her at night before bed, request Alexa to wake her up in the morning and gives her the weather so she knows how to dress for school. She also has fun asking her simple Math questions too.

Easy setup. Veryeasy to inegrate and use with other smart items and bluetooth. I find this much simpler thanthe google home device which I also own

Everyone is getting 1 for Christmas but the white. The white 1 I am keeping and making the 3rd dot on my network, love these and the Google mini.

This was bought as a gift for my dad. We have echo in several rooms of the house and love it. A very convenient when we need a question answered!

I’be been using my echo for approximately 5 months now. It’s like having a new friend in my house. That may sound creepy, but that’s how I felt at first. There are many good things I have found that I like about Alexa, such as the ease to play my Pandora stations. The incorporated speaker can get quite loud and is very clear. The one thing that I find annoying is how it just starts talking even though I haven’t asked it anything. It has had a lot of crashes, just stops sometimes right in the middle of a conversation. I’m not sure, if it’s the echo’s fault or my internet connection. I usually rectify the problem by just resetting the echo. I’ve had some fun with some of the trivia games. All in all it’s been an entertaining and informative piece of technology for the price tag.

This is my 4th purchase of these devices. Purchased 2 of them in 2016 for Christmas presents. Purchased 2 of them in 2017 for Christmas presents. They are very handy devices and connect seamlessly to Wi-Fi systems or Blue-Tooth speakers. The ease of which you can request music, or ask questions about almost anything is remarkable. It's like having an encyclopedia or search engine in the room with you. I now have two of them in my home. In either of the locations they are sitting at, I simply have to ask a questions and get a near immediate response. From current time to weather report or calculating math questions, to just about anything you can think of. I think of some new questions or ways to use them nearly every day. I may end up getting another one for the home theater I am setting up in the basement. The new TV is compatible with the device so I'm sure I will find several new things I'll be able to use it with the TV. Hopefully, this upcoming Christmas Amazon and resellers of their smart devices will put them on-sale again. The holiday sale price and purchasing them for gifts has proven to be a much loved present for whomever received it. My son loves his DOT and Bluetooth speaker I gave him for gifts. Same thing for my daughter and her family. One big thumbs up for these things.

I tried Google home as well, as I am personally big fan of many google products and technologies. However, Alexa takes the cake in this category.

This is the third and fourth echo dot I have purchased. One will be going in my house the other I am giving away to a soon to be college student.

Can’t wait to use mine. Fun!!! I can honk this will be a great help around the house to keep me on time and knowing weather. Listening to music!!

I so far have used this almost exclusively for music, weather, and directions, but for those things, it is a fun new toy. I was irritated that some of the songs I wanted Alexa to play are part of Unlimited, and you have to pay $4/month for that, but there is still plenty of selection. I bought it during the Christmas sale, so for $30, it does what I want just fine.

I enjoy this device. I use it to voice control my Hue Lights and my music on my Sonos speakers. It still lacks a little when it comes to information asked of it. Still use my Google search mostly. I decided to gift this one.
