I have 5 of these glorious little assistants. love to get her to turn on my lights, change their colors and play my amazon playlists.

I wanted to get a personal assistant and needed to decide between the Echo Dot and Google Home Mini. The fact that I had a Bose Revolve bluetooth speaker and that the Echo Dot could work with it made the decision relatively easy. I like the sleek design over the Home Mini. I didn't need the speaker of the full size Echo. Set up was easy. to connect it to your home WiFi using the Alexa app. The fact that it had 7 microphones vs 2 for the Home mini was also a deciding factor. I did not have to shout at Alexa and was able to speak in a normal voice to be heard. I don't have an Amazon Prime account so I don't know what I'm missing out on but for general queries and Alexa "skills" that I have added it was well worth the $30 price.

This was a bundle package with Lutron light switches. Both products worked great together. I'm able to tell Dot to turn off / on lights

I have purchased several Amazon Dots and Echo's. I am amazed at the functionality and convenience of these devices in the home. Great for playing background music while working around the house and the endless number of questions you can ask Alexa for almost anything you can think of. Well worth the price for the entertainment of these devices.

This is almost as good as the echo. The sound could have been better but you can always add a Bluetooth speaker. Great buy at $29.99.

Great unit and sound for such a small fry. Has the features of Alexa but a lower price. These are going to make great Christmas gifts

I recently purchased an Amazon Echo Dot (2nd generation) for my daughter's birthday. The Echo Dot is easy to setup and use. It works with other smart devices including her bedroom lights. The Echo Dot maybe small but produces good sound and Alexa recognizes voice commands the first time. This is a great product for anyone and an even better price point.

This thing is so freaking cool. I wound up getting one for other rooms of my house and I’m thinking of gifting them out for Christmas

I love my Alexa connected devices! They make things so much easier. I have one on every floor and she does whatever I need when I ask.

I bought this mainly for my older parents. Voice commands for their phones make it easier for them to call people. Especially in an emergency. My dad loves to ask Alexa trivia questions and play his old music!

The product footprint is non-intrusive. I got the white color Amazon Echo Dot second generation. My wife loves it. She enjoyed giving Alexa commands like weather today, who sang the song, turn on the light, etc. We connected it to our sound bar and the sound is unbelievable. For the price, it is recommended for one to have a unit like Echo Dot.

This like when cell phones cane out was something I didn't think I needed. But once you have it you will find yourself using every day

This device is so much fun - it will set timers, play music, tell jokes, tell stories,set appointments, etc, etc. I love my two dots.

Takes a while to go trough the Alexa app. To enable a lot of skills however once you get the hang of it , it does good! Nice for older folks to use just voice or pts who can't hold or type on phone or computer

Wasn't sold on the idea of personal voice assistants until I got this. Get this when it's on sale and it'll be a really good bargain.

Alexa does a decent job interpreting your intent for most common skills, but often misinterprets what you said for some custom skills. The ability to search for general information and to keep the context of a conversation is not as good as the Google Home platform. If you're just going to use it to play music and check the weather or let the kids have at it, it's a neat toy. It has a head start on Google for number of applications, but I expect that will change over time. For the low cost of entry, it's worth a shot to see how you like it before you spend 2-4x as much on more capable hardware.

Got this for Christmas, just love it! So many things you can do with this, I haven't even figured it all out but sure am having fun!

Highly recommend these echo dot devices. This is a 2nd generation dot and they work great. They can do so much. Alexa controls my smart home and I've become dependent on these devices to make life more hassle free. I have one in every room of the house- may be overkill but Alexa and I have learned how to become good friends.

We originally bought Google Home and realized it wouldn't pair with all of our smart home devices (we have the nest thermostat, iHome sp5 smart plugs, and hue lights). It also could not hear us very well. The echo dot was much cheaper and could pair with all or smart home devices and can hear us very accurately from far away! I love being able to tell her to add things to my shopping list and being able to open the app in the store and have my shopping list right there. There are so many things you can do with Alexa! Personally I think the echo dot a better deal than the original echo as its smaller, cheaper, and can do everything echo can do except the speakers aren't as good. But you can pair another Bluetooth speaker to the echo dot, so that's not a big deal. The only complaint I could have is that there have been a couple times Alexa randomly stopped pairing with our smart home devices and we can never figure out why or how to re-pair them. Had to discuss with Alexa support the first time and it did it again recently and we haven't figured out how to fix it yet. But when it works, it's super nice! You can create groups so we can tell her to turn on our living room lights and she turns on both of the lamps. Overall would recommend!
