I purchased 4 of these for Christmas gifts. All 4 individuals love them. I am amazed each time they tell me what they are doing with their echo dot. A few examples are using it as an alarm clock, setting reminders, grocery lists, making telephone calls, ordering on Amazon, and playing jeopardy.

I was looking at the google home and different ones out there. My christmas present form my husband was this Alexa he said it would be a great starter one and later we could upgrade. It's perfect for my needs now. Only down fall is when i say my daughters name it picks up, other than that it's great..

Cotrols my lights and tells me jokes along with the weather. Perfect companion. Wife really enjoys using this in the kitchen to start timers and listen to her audible books so she doesn't have to touch things. Not perfect voice recognition but best I have seen so far. Getting on sale for $40 was a great buy.

We use it to turn lights on and off that are hooked into WeMo Insight switches. The News briefings are nice too. For $50 it is cheap enough to try. The shopping list option is handy too. "Hey Alexa, add milk to the list." Then I just open the Alexa app on my phone and see what I need to get at the store.

Why spend $130 or more on the Amazon Echo when the dot does the same thing for $50 or less. I like the fact that it's always learning. I don't currently have any home automation devices but, when I do this is going to be so much cooler than it is now. Think of it as your own little personal assistant.

I love my echo but not happy for what I want I have to pay monthly fees for. Otherwise it is nice.

Great personal assitant, can also control lights, play music, etc. Cheapest always on Alexa device.

Listen to it daily. Especially music.my husband loves jazz. Now it's available with just a request.

Does almost everything I need. Wish she were a bit smarter in some area but would highly recommend.

Kids have fun with it, handy for a quick question, just never know if listening all the time

The echo dot itself works well but the app has issues. I enabled skills but device would tell me that the skill was not enabled. I may just need to uninstall/reinstall app which was frustrating. Bought on sale and works well with Wemo plugs so overall i am satisfied with the product. Only issue I had is what I stated earlier...still a cool little device.

We love this device. Great for making lists. It's also great for music and asking questions.

The echo is everything as advertised . And I found the built in speaker is adequate for normal use.

This device can be the center of your home automation. Plus you can command things with your voice.

I use this with my smart home and absolutely love it. My wife thought it was silly until I showed her how to use it and now it's part of our busy lives and an amazing helper.
