I like the eco dot, it has some really nice features. I can listen to music while I sleep and I check the temperature outside. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because the only light bulb it works with is the one that you can only buy on amazon. I like my electronics with more flexibility. If you buy the philips hue you have to have a bridge in order to sync it with the eco dot. That is the only complaint I have about it.

There's not much to do, I mean Spotify you have to be premium and that's annoying. Plus it takes forever to ask her to search something for you. Although I have to say that the sound is great and it has very good voice recognition, it can hear me from across the room with a whisper and even when you are blasting music. Not bad just not that useful.

Great device, And you can change the "wake up" name. You're not required to use Alexa as the wake name. It may not know everything but it's worth the cost. And now with my Amazon FireStick, it can turn on the TV and access You Tube.

My late girlfriend had this for less than a year before she died last May. She loved being able to listen to radio stations over the Internet from her South Carolina home area as she was in Kentucky, and liked playing Jeopardy. I will be inheriting it as a momentous of her.

My 7 year old simply loves this thing! She figured out that she can hook it up to a portable phone/ipad battery pack, so now Alexa is totally mobile. The down-side is that somehow, without authorization from me, Alexa signed the kid up for some sort of song fee and charges now show up on our bill.

This is a great product. It is fun learning all the new tips and tricks of the product. I love it!

Having previously received the Amazon Echo as a gift, I added the DOT so I can have the same great features in another room in my home. The built in speaker is adequate for basic responses but would be better paired with a Bluetooth speaker for music. All the features of the Echo at a third of the price.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift, ok for me too. I didn't realize how many things you can with the dot until we bought it. You don't have to buy the echo which costs more which I like. It's easy to program and it recognizes anyone that talk to it. I didn't give it 5 starts because now and then my family will be having a conversation and if you say anything close sounding to Alexa it thinks you are talking to it.

Still learning but so far so good, Basic commands work really well. Some more sophisticated commands or compound commands are hit/miss. For example, "Alexa play the top hits from Roxette" works great. But "Alexa shuffle and repeat the top hits from Roxette" results in Alexa responding with the same response as the previous ... so did it work? Hard to say. Could be user error, but so far it's been pretty fun to play with.

Haven’t used it yet. Received in a timely manner. Not sure why I bought it, Siri on iPhone does the same thing. Just another toy

We added this to the Echo hoping the two would work in sync with each other and they don't, but that's ok. We put this in the bedroom and added a blue tooth speaker with it. We love having the Dot in the bedroom, it gives us the advantage of the Echo with a smaller package and we're still able to do everything that we can do in the living room!!

Fun to use. Had a Google Home tired of saying hey google. Grandkids can say Alexa easier.

i don't think that the money you pay for this item will be well spent. i upgraded to the bose. different product but i love it!!!

Its a lot of technology for a small price. I would like to know how it compares to the larger one

I purchased the dot to see what it was all about. It's actually really cool. Very handy to get real time information and controls smart home devices. Very responsive mic. Little disappointed with the speaker quality. Not that great as would expect to play musics. Overall great deal to buy.

Very helpful and fun to use. Set reminders, check weather, look up recipes and play games.

If you have Amazon Prime, you have to get an Echo Dot. This is for the 2nd generation which was quite some time ago, but its fine, its still workable. The new 3rd generation ones have better audio and works faster. But this is still pretty decent too.

I made this purchase with a bit of apprehension. I thought that it would have a hard time understanding commands with other noises in the room such as the TV or others talking. After using it for a few weeks, I am very pleased with how well it works. I am considering getting two more for other rooms.
