Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Echo Dot (2nd generation)'s ease of use, sound quality, and small size, frequently praising its affordability and Bluetooth connectivity. While some users found the setup a bit challenging and noted occasional issues with Alexa's responsiveness or volume, the positive feedback on its core features outweighs these concerns. Many appreciate its use as an alarm clock and its integration with smart home devices.

I think that the genius of the Echo Dot is the price point. It is a fun and useful tech gadget that does not break the bank. I find that it responds well to my voice, has been very easy to use, and there are lots and lots of skills to try. The only thing that has been a little challenging is remembering the words to use to activate different skills. However that has nothing to do with the Echo Dot itself. I bought something that allows me to hang the echo dot on the wall And have found that it really hears my voice consistently positioned that way. I use it to control my Amazon Music, my fire TV stick, and a smart power trip that has lights and a fan attached. I love it! I also use it to add things to my grocery list and to do list. They get added directly within the Alexa app.

My Echo dot sits in my bedside table. She is so small but mighty. She's my alarm clock, tells me the time without putting on my glasses, tells me the weather, plays relaxing sounds, guided meditation, plays music while cleaning, turns on and off the light with the mini smart plug. I get great emails telling me of lots of ideas using Alexa skills. I love my little dot.

This is a great product when paired with the Wemo Switch or Plug and with other devices such as a Bluetooth speaker or a Nest Thermostat. Turn on or off lights, control temperature setting with your voice has never been so easy. Adding multiple Echo Dots and linking it to subscribed services like Pandora or Sirius XM can allow for streaming music throughout the house.

We bought the Plus and a Dot. The Dot handles our entire upstairs where all the bedrooms are. The speakers are no where near the Plus's, but for the price and ease of setup thus was a great purchase. The speakers do handle our entire upstairs & I could boost the quality & volume by attaching it to our stereo system, but we are fine just the way it works on its own.

I recently purchased the echo 2nd generation and 2 of the Echo Dots 2nd generation. Using them in different rooms and enjoying the music (terrific sound) from all the devices. Still playing with them and learning some of their many uses. I plan to use these as an intercom in 3 of the main rooms used in the House. Great product and truly amazed in its capabilities.

The Echo Dot is a fantastic home assistant. It is reasonably priced, small, and just works. While the built in speaker is certainly adequate, the option to connect to a more robust system via Bluetooth or auxiliary cable is useful, particularly for a more in-depth music experience. In my opinion, it's better than the Echo for those reasons (most people already have a Bluetooth speaker or sound system that's as good or better than what the Echo has to offer). On the utility side, you can hear news, ask questions, control smart devices in your home, order items from Amazon, and send messages (or live phone calls) back and forth with most other Alexa users. On the fun side, you can hear jokes, flip a coin, play music, or just mess with Alexa to see how she will react. For such a low price ($40 on sale), you can't go wrong here.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the Echo Dot. I have one in almost every room and it works fairly flawlessly. I have an Echo Dot that I travel with and it connects to a Hoo-Too Tripmate portable router. For the size, the sound is good and you can use an aux cable or bluetooth into other devices for richer and clear sound if you are more of an audiophile.

Since this has Alexa in it, it was getting confused with my ecobee. So we had to change its name to Echo. Tgis one is in the bedroom. Easy and convenient to use. "Echo, turn bedroom on" and the lights go on. "What's the weather going to be like today " that way i know how to dress for the day. Need to get one for my daughter's room that way I can drop in on her.

Having purchased several Echo's for my family, i decided to pick up the dot for my bedroom as well. I have to say it's nice to have the small footprint, low profile on my night stand. The sound is perfect too. I usually fall to sleep with it on. I can set an alarm, listen to the News flash & weather while having my coffee in bed. I love it!

Very easy set up and this has awesome sound for such a small speaker. I have not had any problems with the skills the the Amazon Dot has they are great and it can hear you from quite a ways away. The room filling sound is the best thing about the whole thing can not believe how much sound there is in such a little package. Good competition to Bose......lol

I bought this on a lark on sale at Best Buy. I've seen only one in a home and looked like fun. I've really enjoyed it. It is fun to use and useful also. The more I use it, the more I find things it can do. It can turn off my TV, play music I've uploaded to Amazon, and provide information on different subjects. Look forward to seeing what else it can do.

I bought this for my mother, who needs an easy voice recognition device that can give her the daily news and info she needs, and this could not be more perfect. Super powerful for its size, and featuring most of the more popular capabilities of the larger versions, the echo dot should be in every home so Alexa can help you with your daily needs!

I'm having fun with the echo so far. Only problem is Alexa doesn't know a lot of things I ask that I would expect her to. For example, I asked her who starred in a particular movie and she couldn't give me any details. That type of thing I would think she should be able to answer. But it's great for setting alarms, playing music, getting traffic and weather. And I'm sure there's a lot more that I haven't discovered yet. I eventually plan to have my lights synced up to it as well.

I haven't owned a product with Alexa before and didn't have much exposure to it before I bought it. We've had it about a week now and really like it. Makes it easy for things like playing music on demand and turning on/off the Christmas tree without having to plug/unplug the tree every time. Also there are some simple, fun games on there.

I know the echo has many cool features as a person assistant, but the main reason I got it was to be able to tell it to play music on my speaker without me having to get my phone out. I use spottily for my music, just make sure you have premium. It also works great as an alarm, you just tell it to set an alarm at x time and its good to go.

Didn't want to make too heavy of an investment till I saw how it works in a smaller application. I HATE searching for all of my controllers and making sure I have the right buttons pushed to control cable, stereo and TV. Works awesome with Harmony where I have my Echo programmed to turn on and off everything in one command. Heaven!!

Out of the box - you can listen to music and not constantly reach for your cellphone. It's only good if being used as a speaker in a small area or place where you don't need loud or bass sounds. This isn't very loud you'll be disappointed if that's what you thought. If you want a really good Alex enabled speaker, with bass and good volume, buy the Amazon Echo. That will fulfill the need. These are great to put all over the house once you start stepping into the automation realm. It can also answer some questions and give you your daily news, weather, place orders using Amazon account and it's most known use-case - it can control your smarthome. Just ask Alexa and it happens. there is certainly a life learning curve if you want to do more with Alexa like controlling lights and outlets, etc, but it gets very easy over time. In loud areas, she definitely may have problems hearing everything and she does make mistakes, but what do you expect from a small device that has a big job to do in such environments. For every day use, it's perfect and I love the automation. We use dots all over the house and it works perfect in our case!

The echo dot is so simple and easy to set up! I have replaced all my lighting on my main level and am starting on my man cave in the basement. Controlling all my lighting with my voice is so much fun. My grandkids love the echo too. They are always asking questions and playing music. All around fun! So convenient! Way to go Alexa!

I now have 4 of these (2 at each of my 2 residences) and I absolutely love them. My primary use for these is voice control of smart devices. While setup can be a bit complex and you have to be very precise in the naming of your devices (or it gets a little confused or asks you to clarify which devices a a bit too often) it has eliminated the need to log into apps, find remotes or handle switches to turn my lights and ceiling fans on and off. It even controls my entertainment center by interfacing with my Harmony remote. The $49 price making smart, voice activated technology affordable. I do wish it was smart enough to talk through its internal speaker and send music out through the aux input. If my stereo is off I'd still like to hear what she has to say.
