I found the echo dot to be the perfect blend of size and functionality. Despite its size, the speaker pack a surprising punch. The more alexa compatible devices you own, the more useful you will find the echo. Personally, the echo for me has made by life much easier, by control by thermostat, lights, and tv with my voice.

Great product! Was a present for my son, but everybody in the house uses it. Very useful for weather, alarms, listening to music, or playing games to pass time. Works great with Nest thermostat as well. Very easy to pair with Nest or any blue tooth speaker. Looked into more expensive Echos cause others complained about the speaker in the Dot. I think it sounds pretty good, but I still pair it with my Polaroid blue tooth speaker so I can go anywhere in the house and listen to my Pandora. The drop in feature to speak with other family who also has a Dot is super convenient. Like an intercom between houses. For the price I figured can't go wrong with the Dot and can always add one of the better Echos down the road.

The Amazon Echo Dot is a great and capable product. It does everything else that the normal Amazon Echo does, only being smaller due to not having the large, added speaker. for $50, this is a great buy. Placing orders at Starbucks or on Amazon, waking you up in the morning with a soothing ring or giving you a customization news briefing of the day. Everything can be changed and/or customized through the Amazon Echo app, which you have to have with the product. Set-up through the app was extremely easy, and everything on the app was logically laid out in my opinion. Really the Echo Dot is larger, more expensive Amazon Echo with-out the speaker, but noise quality was not a huge selling point to me with this product...if it is, you can connect it to Bluetooth speaker for improved sound. Overall the Amazon Echo is a great product at a great price for what is can do. The reason why I am only giving four stars is because I have gotten used to being on my phone so often, I do everything from my phone rather than the Echo...making the product somewhat useless to me, personally.

I bought the echo dot to control my new tv and I’ve found that I use it for so much more. As a Prime member I can listen to music through my sound bar, search for a movie, change the channel and adjust the volume without using a remote. I bought 3 and have them throughout the house and they all work seamlessly together.

Having never purchased a asistant device before I was not sure what to expect but after setting up through the Alexa app this is an awesome device that is definitely worth having. Once connected the device will give you weather updates news sports and will play music though you subscribed apps. Definitely a great buy.

What can I say, it's a baby echo that's cheap enough to put in every room. It's good for adding to existing powered speaker that you already own. Amazon is constantly adding features so at some point there will be something for everyone. This is a must have for anyone who is or wants to be in the Amazon ecosystem.

I've had the regular Amazon echo since it came out for the first floor. I bought the dot recently for the basement to control the TP link lights, wall sconces etc. It's definitely the better buy for $50 and it links to all the other echoes in the house, so you can play music through them all at the same time

Excellent starter device for one wanting to know what Alexa is all about. Just plug it in and connect it to your Wi-Fi and you are good to go. Alexa will connect to music servers you may have, Pandora, Spotify, Sirrius Xm and you can control accessing these and other services via voice or via application.

I have the larger version (Echo) at home and certainly would opt for that if purchasing another for my house. However, for my office needs I went with the Dot and am pleased with the price and the product. I may have to repeat myself sometime and the volume doesn't quite reach that of what the Echo can do, but for music in an office space and quick questions I am pleased. The cost is about 55% less than the Echo. $129. vs. $49.99

Just felt like having a new friend in your house doing some of the housework for you! I use Alexa to link it up with my smart switch and vola! It works like a sci-fi movie where I can control the light using my voice command! Also love the interaction with Alexa in getting news, weather, traffic etc!

We have 2 Dots and have given several more as gifts. They’re great for listening to news, music, and answering all sorts of questions. Need a laugh? Just ask Alexis to tell you a joke! I use the list feature for grocery shopping and love how I can easily add an item while cooking in the kitchen.

Great price and wonderful product! Got it connected to my lights within minutes and now we can speak commands to it from bed to turn on/off lights around the house, ask for the news/weather/songs. This is a must have especially since it’s so cheap!! I’m buying these for every room of the house!!

Ok. This may not be high tech but it sure is fun. We have three across the house. There will be more. I speak and it is done. Great for asking questions about meaaurements while I am cooking. Fun to ask questions to settle differences of opinion when family gets together. And a musical genius.

I purchased this item for my mom as she owns her own business. The echo is small and sleek and is perfect for an office space. My mom loves it as she can freely ask it anything she wants. It’s very helpful for her when she needs or has a question regarding her small business. Great gift!!!

The echo is as advertised. It will recognize your voice and respond accordingly. Definitely speak up, if you are in one room, it may not hear you from the other room. The only frustrating part so far was the initial setup. My networks are hidden and connecting it to a hidden SSID proved to be difficult even after inputting the information manually. I wound up connecting it to a SSID that openly broadcasts.

Overall I’m satisfied with the echo dot and it’s capabilities. Alexa works great for what it’s for and I mainly am using it with my Sonos Speaker system so I can tell her where to play which song in which room. But it does have its limitations and doesn’t Always have a seemless transition between different functions. Still great don’t get me wrong. Just so little things that I wish were added or available.

Protect your wallet if you buy this guy as it will turn you into a smart home crazy person! This little "dot" started me on the path of total home automation. Super easy to program and small foot print that it doesn't look out of place. Just be prepared to spend more than just $29.00.

I absolutely love my Echo Dot. It's so great to be able to just say what I want it to do instead of having to fiddle with buttons. Setting my alarm before bed is a breeze, I can get all warm and cozy and just say 'Alexa, set my alarm' and boom, it's done. I recommend these to everyone.

The Echo Dot is fun and easy to use. I bought mine because it will operate my Sonos speaker system. I can ask Alexa to play music from my phone, from Amazon music or even radio stations. Quizzes, weather, jokes, games, news and much more are skills that can be activated on the Dot. The sound for Alexa’s voice is fine. The sound for music is fair but as I said, I use my Sonos speakers for music.

I love my Echo Dot. It makes me feel like I am living in the future because I can tell it to turn on/off lights, tell it to turn on/off my TV, change channels, change volume, play/pause my cable box DVR. Plus it tells me the weather, plays music, sets timers, and tells corny jokes.
