I love the dot. I have an echo, and it sounds great. I keep it in the my bedroom for setting the rain sound at night. I keep the dot in my office for light music and setting reminders and timers. I use only iOS devices other then these, and the work well with iOS.

This is a nice toy. As a speaker it’s okay. I like the way it can control the Xmas tree with the smart plug I also purchased. Still learning the different commands but she understands me better than Siri when I as a question. The trivia game is also sorta neat.

The echo dot is exactly what I was looking for, I use it to control all the lights in the house and control the thermostat too. I used it to play music, relaxing sounds and simply things as to read me the weather or set up a timer since I get easily distracted.

I love the quick responses of Alexa. The communication is natural. I pair the Echo dot with my Bose speaker and then I can verbosely select music across the room. Echo dot can link with my Wink, Honeywell, etc. I bought 2, and still thinking about a third one.

Impressive device as good as the full Echo for 1/3 of the price. I powered it up, performed a very simple setup and the device was ready to answer all my questions and fulfill my commands, Check the weather, set alarms, set timers, locate and play songs, tell me a joke etc. Apart from Siri, talking to Alexa feels like you are talking to a human, you hear smart answers, you feel kind of emotional replies. Bottom line I love this device and I recommend it. Next step I am going to test it with automation, my goal is to have it control my TV, Sound system and later, rooms lightning, kitchen devices etc..

I was a little skeptical of getting the echo. But I truly use this device everyday. Whether it be for turning on the lighTs when my hands are full or reminding me when my amazon packages are delivered. This is such a great device especially for the price.

Bought this as a gift for my parents this year. Although they haven't received it yet, I'm hoping they enjoy some of the cool things it can do. On sale this year for around $30. It's a reasonable gamble that they may actually use, and possibly enjoy.

We already had two dots and when my niece did a sleepover one night, she told me she wished there was one in the spare bedroom so she could control the lights and ask Alexa to tell her jokes or play music and set her alarm. So we had to buy one more!

Pointless for someone who doesn't have an integrated smart home. I essentially bought this for the Destiny 2 skill. I haven't tried that out yet. Alexa does have good voice recognition. I can talk in a normal voice from another room and summon her. Seems to be handy around the kitchen when you're hands are dirty/wet and you can't just use your phone.

Did a little research on this before I purchased it. Compared Mini Home assistant, but I felt the Echo Dot could do more. I really enjoy using it because it can be very helpful. Beside the little things like getting the weather and setting timers, there is also the ability to set doctor appointments along with shopping lists. I do the appointments as they are made immediately and the shopping as I think of things (food) to get when I go to the store. Downloading and using the free Cozi program it posts the shopping list to my phone as well as the appointments! Great, no more looking for paper and pencil to write it down and forgetting where I put the list ! It adds the appointments to my Google calendar as well. Looking forward to other things this little unit can do. I demonstrated this unit to a friend and he has gone to Best Buy to get his.

It is simple to set up and can be activated by your choice word: Alexa, Amazon, Echo, or Computer. It works exceptionally well if you have several in the house, as they do not interfere with each other. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this.

I bought this to try it out since it was for sale...for the price, it was worth it. I use it every day to tell me about the weather and my commute plus my favourite songs always on repeat by just talking to it ..just a bit concerned about the privacy of this device, since the talk was "it records everything".. bottom line is it have it's pro and cons

I am thrilled that this small piece of technology has simplified my operation of my Sonos speakers. It took my son to help me connect it and I'm still working on getting it to play particular music requested and to which room, but practice makes perfect. It's also a wealth of information without looking info up and it's nice that it's all hands free!

I have echo dots all over my house! I use echo for all kinds of automation tasks and entertainment and have yet to unleash its full potential! One of the best things about echo dot is the fact that it's very portable (unlike the others) meaning, I can use an Power Bank and take Alexa with me everywhere I go (I use a portable LTE wifi-router). Alexa turns on/off Christmas lights, and lamps, and can control my entire home theater system paired up with the Harmony Hub. My friends and family are so impressed with all that she can do... Alexa plays music, tells jokes, gives news and weather updates, drop in on my friends and family, find my phone... and has a million more different skills... the sky's the limit! I have given at least 10 of these to my friends and family as gifts because EVERYONE should have an echo in their home =)

I really like my Amazon echo! I comnected mine to a speaker and use it to play music stored on Amazon Music...nice they let u have an account free with up 250 songs stored...setting an alarm checking the weather and news is great convenience

I have the full size Echo in my living room and love it. I decided to purchase the echo dot for my office. Set-up was easy. I use the alarm and timers settings. Listen to the weather in the morning and of course love listening to my music!

The echo dot is a great gateway into smart tech. Alexa is easy to use and the set up is quick. Her functionality is based a lot on your internet connection and I have heard of people having trouble pairing her to their university wifi. I did not encounter any of those problems. Pairing her with smart outlets and lights reakly add to the alexa experience but I wouldnt say they are absolutely necessary. The speaker although small work great in my bedroom and she can quickly pair to a bluetooth speaker which is what I use when I wasnt to play music in a larger room.

Everyone needs at least one of these. Easy to set up. It is amazing what it can do. Response is instant. If you are a Prime member Your music, photos etc are unlimited. It is rare that when I ask it to play a song that it won’t play it.

The echo dot is very easy to set up. Just got to get used to talking to it. Only con is I also have to buy a speaker to go with it in order to listen music. But I do love the price and compact size, it is perfect for a college student.

If you have an Echo already, you know how useful this can be. It does everything that the full size Echo can do, but takes up less space and costs much less. One difference is that the Echo has a great full sound speaker and this one clearly does not. The sound from the Echo Dot is lacking. I wouldn't listen to music on this. Where the Echo can act as a bluetooth speaker to play music from you phone or whatnot, the Echo Dot 2 connects to other bluetooth speakers (so it uses bluetooth in the opposite way). It's handy, cost MUCH less and is fun to have around. If you are into smart homes at all, like I am, it's worth getting. You will also get more out of it if you are a member of Prime. I have been prime since I got my first Echo, so I'm not sure how limited it would be without it.
