We use it mostly for playing music, set alarms and reminders and listening to news. It works great though sometimes you have to figure out how to say certain things but it's awesome. Haven't tried the smart house functions yet (lack of compatible devices).

Bought this for mother-in-law for her 90th birthday as she wanted something small for music in her small kitchen. Thought of this as we had gotten on as a Christmas gift and loved it. So does she as she can use it as a timer, alarm clock, music and more.

The very best ever! thought is was a toy at first. We use it all day long!

So bought several of these for family members for Christmas Kept one for myself. Love it I get my morning headline updates and weather each morning once synced to my phone I can play music from my library or Alexa will find stations based on my play list

I have the bigger Alexa and decided I needed the dot for the bedroom. This way I can set an alarm, hear the latest news, play music, set a sleep timer or any kind of timer for that matter and I can find out what the weather is before I get out of bed.

We asked Alexa a few basic questions, We laughed a little but then I had to leave. When I returned the next day, I walked in and there was music playing (oldies but goodies) and I walked into my moms room and she was singing but was emotional. I asked her if everything was ok. She was in awe. She was happy. She was emotional because Alexa helped mom find songs at a blink of an eye that mom had not heard since her childhood and she demonstrated it to me. The speed that Alexa found the song and played it was mind-boggling.

The price for the Echo has dropped so it became an impulse buy. Didn’t realize how cool it is. The fact that it has Amazon Music built in makes it perfect for an office or kitchen right away. Not looking for amazing sound quality but the ability to say “Play Christmas Music” and have Music start playing is awesome. The rest of the normal Alexa commands are there as well.
