I have an Echo and added this for the kitchen. I also have taken it to my small cottage for weekends and will probably leave it there. It does everything the Echo does without the higher cost. The only thing it is missing is quality sound for music. It is cost effective. The only problem that I see is that Alexa remains based in my home town. When I ask for weather on my Echo dot, it automatically gives that information. I have to remember to specific where we are.

Get one for every room, you won't regret it! I love em.

Wake up with a new joke every morning. It’s like having a friend in the room at all times. Even when you’re alone.

My main gripe of the Echo was that it stood out in a room and really needed to be a central location. Now with the Echo Dot, you can easily add Alexa to any room that could benefit. For us it was a room with a smart bulb but was far enough away that we had to yell into the living room to have Alexa turn it on. No longer. I placed it in a hallway and the Dot can cover smart home items in adjacent rooms. I also move it to the Kitchen when I'm cooking so I can hear my news briefing or have music playing. You do sacrifice audio quality with this model compared to the full Echo, but it is to be expected with the affordable price. I highly recommend it for someone who already has an Echo and would like to use the features in different parts of the house.

Love Alexa especially when I need to know what time it is. Excellent dictionary and gives me the traffic update!!

The Amazon Echo dot is an excellent product. It can be used to amplify any device with Bluetooth capabilities. My only two problems are that the volume is not very high and it will not allow for dual play( you can not sync with Echo to play simultaneously. The dot will only use the Echo and vice versa as a Bluetooth speaker.

I have a number of these devices around the house and use them to get information and control devices. I find all of them work well and there is no significant different in what they will do. The one problem is that if your Internet goes down, the device won't do anything until it goes back up. This is a basic model where you have the company logo on the side and a plastic exterior. If you don't mind the look, it is a fine model. If you want an upgraded look, get the next model up. In either case, try to wait for one of the frequent sales if you want a better price. We like them a lot.

Got this as a gift for my husband who is not tech savvy. Now he uses this and his blue tooth speaker. He loves it!

Build quality is pretty good and a step above most cheap Bluetooth speakers. I'd also keep an eye out for the various Alexa-only discounts and coupons that are on offer. Most of these entail, something like "Alexa, order me X product" or some variation of that. This device can pretty much pay for itself after 2-3 such offers.
