Better than the competition

Echo can do and understand a lot more. It seemed that google only had one microphone so unless you are talking right to the mic it does not hear you. Echo has several mic surrounding it so it can hear you from a lot of different angles. The only problem is that if you are not careful while setting it up they sign you up for amazon prime before you realize it.

Smart Home essential

I personally like the Alexa over the google because with google they are notorious for selling your personal information for advertisement. Not saying that Alexa doesn't, I'm just not a fan of google's latest privacy standards.
