If you don't need a big speaker and just want to have voice control on your smart home, a Dot is all you need. I have a Dot in every major room in my house in combination with two Echo Shows. I don't need a robust speaker since my Bose System handles all of that and I have it controlled by Amazon Echos (Dots and Shows).

because it's in the Amazon ecosystem certain things are not as good and some things are better. For me, the sound from the mini is better but being able to order from Amazon via voice can't be matched - especially being able to order add-on items without having to meet the minimum shipping total!

I already had the Alexa Show in the house but we wanted another device in our garage. You can’t beat this for the price! The sound is amazing. We listen to music, play games, trivia, etc. We love it!

I have many hue bulbs throughout my home, and I assumed that the Amazon Dot would be a perfect light switch to control it all. I was correct. After a little bit of set up in the Alexa app, I was able to control all of my lights, down to the specific light fixture that they were located in. Way easier to use than Siri on my phone. She can also answer most of the stupid questions that I have while watching TV or wandering around the house. The Echo is also very responsive to voice, I can yell from across the house and it can still (usually) hear my commands. Now for the very few complaints I have. For starters, the speaker quality isn't very good. It can get up to a decent volume, but lacks much bass. Don't buy this to have a bluetooth speaker. That's not what this product was designed for. The only other complaint that I currently have is support for Apple Music. Alexa does not support Apple Music, but can support a variety of other ones, including Spotify and Amazon Music. Other than that, it's a pretty cool gadget for only $50. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

My Aunt who has been bed ridden and paralyzed with Multiple Sclerosis from her neck down for more than 30 years now has a new friend named Alexa! He was in tears with happiness when Alexa played 70's music, played Jeopardy, answered all his questions and wakes him up every morning. Great product!

I have the Amazon echo too and the echo dot is a nice companion for it. Going to use it as an intercom too

Love this thing I can tell it to adjust my temperature in my house. It can even start my Mercedes! The possibilities with this is endless. My favorite thing is that actually listens to what I say. Sorry Siri.

Great device. Just wanted to get my foot in the door of home automation. I use it to control my home lights and Bluetooth to play songs from my phone. I integrated it with my soundbar for voice controls.

I ordered this after purchasing the Echo. Which is great! The Echo Dot also was purchased later. Use the Dot in the bedroom. Makes a great morning alarm plus music day or night. These are great gadgets for a home.
