I have a full size and this little guy in a kitchen and it’s great to listen to music news etc

Friend of mine bought the Echo (big unit) and we had a blast sitting around one evening drinking and listening to music while challenging Alexa to find the most obscure songs we could think of. The friend noted that the Dot was the same unit, just without the speaker component. I had a great bluetooth speaker, so for $49, it was a bargain. Great useful device that is on demand fun, no issues with losing connectivity, and have started downloading skills to have fun with it. A great office companion, I ask for local news blurbs in the AM to start the day, along with weather, and set some soft or classic rock channels as background noise as I get through my day. Well worth the small investment.

Does a fairly good job with my Phillips Hue, picks up voice command from a very long distance.

We love the Echo Dot. We purchased it to “give it a try,” because the price point was so reasonable. We use the Echo daily for news briefings, weather, stock reports, jeopardy, timers & alarms, spelling, dictionary & general knowledge questions and music streaming. I enjoy receiving emails with suggestions of things to try with Alexa and apps to add. We occasionally use a Bose Bluetooth speaker linked to the Echo when listening to music, but most of the time we don’t bother and find the speaker adequate. I am however considering the regular Echo for it’s superior sound quality to use in another room. We like our Echo so much we took it on vacation with us

We have Alexa and love it. It was a no brainer when the kids asked for the Dot for their rooms for Christmas. They listen to their music, set their alarms and get the latest sports scores

Great for your Pandora or amazon prime music, or a news Briefing, or apps with multiple uses.

The Echo Dot is a nice addition to my collection of Alexa-enabled devices. I wouldn't get one if you don't already have a regular Amazon Echo, as the Dot has a pretty lame speaker. The regular Echo and the Echo Tap have much better speakers. But that's not really the point of the Dot, at least not for me. I just wanted another way to speak to Alexa, and the Dot is perfect for that. I mainly use it to check my calendar, add something to the grocery list, check the weather forecast, control the lights and thermostat, ask Alexa a question, etc. If you already have an Echo, you might as well get the Dot. I just wouldn't recommend it as your primary Alexa device because of the low-quality speaker.

This device was very easy to setup. The voice recognition is excellent. It has been able to find everything that I have asked for so far. Tried the alarm and that was faultless. lots more to explore

Looking at Amazon Echos for Christmas present and as a lark i bought the Dot for myself to try out. It was connected to a Bose system through a cable and the sound was just incredible. Streaming music over this is just wonderful. It does every thing the original Echo can do. Well worth the money.

As an owner of the larger Amazon Alexa device, I somewhat knew what to expect of the Echo Dot. I wanted something for use in my bedroom that wouldn't take up much space, replacing my alarm clock. This device is perfect for placement on a nightstand for use as an alarm, checking the weather, traffic info, or news/flash briefing updates. Basically, the Dot has the same primary features & functions as Alexa, but without the larger speaker. I don't really listen to music in the bedroom, so the small speaker of the Dot and its output level isn't a concern; it's loud enough for my purposes. Bluetooth is supported and there's also an auxiliary 3.5mm jack if external speakers need to be connected.

I love the small size of the dot. It's small but mighty! The sound coming from the dot is amazing. I put this dot in our bedroom and use as an alarm and also to play nature sounds as I go to sleep.

Great product. Responds very well to commands. My kids use it to play music. Highly recommend.

I bought my first one during Black Friday deals figuring if I didn’t like it I wouldn’t be out much $$. Turns out I love this little thing. I have incorporated it into my house so I can control various lights, plugs, and even my TV with my voice. Don’t get my wrong, i thought this was only for very lazy people however it does come in handy when the situation calls for it. I use the alarm and timer the most. I liked it so much I bought another one for my bedroom. Sound is decent however you aren’t going to be impressing anyone if you are listening to music on it. I would recommend buying an additional speaker dedicated just to your echo. Fun and useful product

I have the echo and the dot now and I love both. The dot allows me to have music playing in my sons bedroom while he goes to bed and will turn off my itself in an hour all i have to do is say Alexa play bedtime music and then Alexa turn off in one hour! Convenient when your hands are full.

Alexa doesn’t like my wife. She won’t listen to her. It’s great we can contr our Sonos system.

My son asked Santa for an Echo Dot. I don't think he realized he needed his own speaker to connect to. He is having fun learning how to interact with Alexa. The only downfall is he is having difficulties playing music from his Spotify account. It keeps wanting him to subscribe to Amazon's music. Still learning how to use it. I imagine there must be a way to use your other music apps and not just be limited to Amazon.

The dots work exactly the same as our more expensive Echo. The sound quality is very good but that is the only advantage the Echo has over the Dots. For the money the dots are the way to go.

Purchased Alexa for the kitchen. Works great especially if you're an amazon Prime member. Use it to get weather, my upcoming calendar events and of course listen to music. Sound works best plugged into a speaker by wire or Bluetooth. I'm now waiting for Sonos connectivity coming this year.

I heard the first Echo at my nieces house during Thanksgiving. She used it for all kinds of things like playing music, timer, alarm clock...etc. I was totally impressed with it and bought one the following week. Then a few weeks later I bought my second one. A few weeks later I got another one from my daughter for Christmas. I have them in different parts of the house doing all kind of things. They communicate with each other so I don't have to yell upstairs looking for people. I just purchased a programmable WiFi thermostat and programmed that in the Echo to change temperatures in the house. So far, it has not disappointed me with all the things it can do.
