So far it plays music well and it easy to connect to Bluetooth.

We recently converted from Google Home devices to Amazon because they are more compatible with the smart devices we have in our home. I went to Best Buy to purchase a 3rd generation Echo Dot, but they were out of stock so I decided to go ahead and pick up the 2nd gen for my son. Setup is pretty simple through the app and it works just as good as the 3rd generation, but isn't nearly as nice to look at. The 3rd gen Echo Dot has slightly better sound and looks much better, but for the price point you can go wrong.

The volume on this speaker isn’t super loud. It often doesn’t hear or understand what I’m saying, and sometimes it just starts talking when the house is silent. When it works it’s nice. I just wish the volume went higher.

We use it for our grocery list. Asking it questions can be a real hoot. The only drawback back is if they are advertising it on the television, it will hear the command and will do it, like set off the alarm at 3am. It was rather funny though.

Works great! Prefer the now with the clock. Easy setup and its nice to be able to control the lights by voice.

So far, we're very satisfied with our dot. It's great to be able to throw on a podcast or nature sounds without needing to pull out your phone or going to a hub. We use it all the time to play kid's music for our daughter during play time. It's very responsive and fun to test out all of the features. One great feature is when you have an echo to pair it with is the drop-in feature. We can set it up in our daughter's room and talk to the person in the kitchen if we need anything. One of the only bad things is that when you connect a bluetooth speaker, there's no option to have the sound play through the speaker AND the dot. It will come with time, but I'd prefer it to have more features as well. Some things you can "google", but sometimes it's a gamble if you'll get an answer or not.

I purchased one of these with the intention to use it with my new Vivint home security setup. However, it doesn't offer much more than that. It will give you the weather, play a short sample of a song you ask it to, play music from different music apps, conduct basic web searches to retrieve very limited information from, allow you to set a timer for any time limit that I've ever asked (max of 30 minutes,) answer simple math problems, and a few other things. Other than these simple things, however, this device is still useless at this time. Amazon does claim to constantly be writing code to enhance their Echo devices' capabilities, but they have a long ways to go before it becomes useful, in my opinion. I now understand why I see everyone in my area selling theirs. The product reviews that I had read before purchasing this device never really gave details as to what its capabilities are, so I blindly purchased it to (mainly) be used with my Vivint SmartHome technology.

Loved my Echo so much that I bought Dots for each of the kids bedrooms. They use them as speakers, wake up alarms, music players, reminders, and much more!

I picked this up on black friday, I've wanted one for awhile just to test it out. I gotta say, it works great. I wish there were more functionality built in for Samsung smart tvs and such but then again I've just begun to explore its features.

At thirty dollars is perfect add on to the echo syncs up easily

The Echo Dot is a useful gadget to have if you are an Amazon Prime member. It will give you easy access to your Prime music and other benefits. The Dot is about the size of a hockey puck and will take up very little room wherever you decide to put it. It's sensitive microphones easily pick up your voice commands. The Dot's speaker is adequate for listening to news, music, or audio books but for a fuller audio experence I would recommend an external speaker. You can plug an external speaker directly into the Dot or connect via Bluetooth. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because setting it up to connect with my router was difficult. I mostly use my Dot to listen to Prime music and the news. Overall the Dot is a fun and interesting device which is sure to become more useful and smarter over time.

Works great for the entire family. We use it with our UE boom to have bigger sound. Size is good, we can hide it easily behind stuff and still works great.

Purchased one for all my family and friends. Love it and use it multiple times per day. Best when paired with things like lifx bulbs and smart plugs

Very handy device. At first, I wasn't sure how much I would use it, considering that I can do the same things on my phone. But the more I used it, the more I enjoyed it and realized how much capability it has. Once it gets attuned to your voice, you can even speak to it softly and it responds. I have a regular Echo for the living room and an Echo Dot for the bedroom which is perfect. I use it for sleep/nature sounds at night, and to check my calendar when I wake up in the morning. I would keep an eye out for when these go on sale. I'm enjoying mine so far.

I’m in love with my echo dot already! I purchased it on Black Friday and I’ve had so much fun trying new skills. I love the flash briefing in the mornings and the anyPod skill. There’s nothing i can say i don’t like about this product so far!

I bought this for my daughter and it has been great for the alarm and asking School questions! Of course effortlessly play music is fantastic!!
