I really love the Echo Dot for its size, price and abilities. The only drawback to it is that it doesn't always have the answers I am asking it for and the interface for it on the app is not user friendly.

Was impressed by this technology, even the sound was good for such a little thing yet it was easily paired with a larger Bluetooth speaker. Easy setup. Using Pandora it will play just about any music you ask it for. As an older couple it's almost like having another person in the home. Reduces the need to resort to Google on your computer. Just ask away.

So easy to set up and fun to use. I like that you can put in different rooms and link together to play music throughout the house.

This is my 4th Echo dot. It is very handy to have in all rooms. I use it to set reminders, alarms, timers, to find out about weather outside before I leave home, prepare shopping lists, keep track of Amazon deliveries, turn on and off lights, and so on. I bought them on sale for abou $20, a bargain for what it can do.

I love using it as a kitchen timer and a place to keep my shopping list. Also, enjoy asking it to tell me a joke and play music.

great for my 10 year old who loves to listen to music....easy to us, simple, small and viable solution for echo companion piece.

Easy to use and set up is a breeze. Hooked up to my Dish Network and Nest thermostat now I can control them with voice commands.

Got one for my kids room. Alexa understands him with no problems and it’s links up with the rest of the house with no problems.

These devices are meant to simplify your life by providing access to things like weather reports and news, but alone by themselves, they're basically a path for you to buy things from Amazon or get mundane information you could easily get elsewhere. For example, a short time back you could not ask Alexa (the female voice that speaks to you through the Echo Dot) to add an item to a to-do list. There just weren't any lists provided by Amazon. Now you can add items by voice, but you can't delete them (you have to use the Alexa app on your phone to do that). There's also a shopping list you can add things to, but same thing for deleting items. That's it - you get two lists (to-do and shopping) and you can't delete items from them using voice commands. Perhaps that will change with time. These devices do become useful when tied to other devices and services through a thing called "skills". Want to control music from Spotify? Add the skill. Light switches that support it? Add the skill. Have a viable calendar you can add appointments to? Add the skill. But you do have to have the other services or devices to tie a "skill" to, so you will need to create accounts with those other providers and possibly pay them a fee to use such services. The Echo Dot (or any Amazon device) just connects to them if the service provider has created connectivity for them via a "skill". BTW, adding a "skill" is easy, just give Amazon your credentials (id and password) for the service you want to tie to the Echo. As to the Echo Do for itself, the sound that comes from it is very clear, and the microphones are quite spectacular at capturing your voice from fairly far away. If you speak softly it'll hear you from about 10 feet away. Yell at it from 25 feet or so and it will still respond properly. You are also supposed to be able to connect several of these and the closest one to you will respond (haven't tried that yet, but then it will be quite nice to speak anywhere in one's abode and have the closest device respond). Also bear in mind where you place them. My most difficult test for it was placing it right over a bookshelf speaker I'd tied it to, and playing it at room listening volume (not loud, not soft). The Echo Dot had difficulty at time recognizing the wake work ("Alexa"), but for the most part it did. Voice recognition (parsing spoken commands) is quite good and for the most part you can say things in different ways and still get the result you expected.

Bought the Echo Dot after my relatives got a few of them for their home. I have the Dot wired to an older set of 3-piece computer speakers for full sound. Alexa is fun, helpful, and easy to use. Got it on sale for $30; wish I would have bought a couple more to have Alexa in more than one room. Looking forward to expand my smart home.

In have 6 dots through out the house which controls many devices. I really like how small it is and pretty much inconspicuous. Easy setup and easy to add the many skills Alexa has and they keep making more and more. Starting and stopping your wash and dryer or even status. I can ask Alexa if my doors are locked and pick them if not. Just added the Alexa clean which starts my Roomba. Thanks to Alexa what was once almost impossible to experience due to technology and price is available to us all now.

After listening to several family members rave about the Echo Dot and how cool Alexa is, I took the plunge and bought one. She answers questions, checks the calendar, plays our music and is just plain fun. Want to hear a joke, Alexa knows one. Wonder what to put in a Bloody Mary, she can let you know. Want her to read you an ebook, she will, or she will play one of your Audible books for you to listen to. She can send our music to a bluetooth speaker in our kitchen while she resides in our family room.

The Amazon Dot with Alexa is neat tech. From playing song requests and kitchen conversions to singing happy birthday, it’s a fun product. Can’t wait to integrate it into future home automation projects

So easy to use and fun to have in the home. We've purchased two for both floor and she hears us clearly no matter where we are.

These things are great....heading up stairs but forgot to turn off the garage lights while pulling an all night build session...no problem, "Alexa, turn off the garage." Done. Want to go downstairs but don't want to walk into a dark suprise? No problem...."Alexa, turn on downstairs light." Done. And that is just the normal things you can do. Turn on your entertainment system, control it, turn it off, you get the picture. Anyhow, simplify life....buy one these and a few outlet plugs and use them.

Great device for automating certain tasks. I enjoy using the good morning function as well as using the device to play music.

Bought this because it was on sale (bought 3 of them actually) and came with a $30 smart plug for $5. Great deal on the plugs alone. Easy setup and blue-tooth linkage with my LG Sound Bars (in various rooms). For the moment, the main benefit is my 6 year old asking Alexa various silly questions and I can turn on/off a light in my Master bedroom by asking Alexa to do it and my Christmas tree in the living room the same way. I assume there will be better/cooler uses as my experience with this improves and I learn the full range of capabilities. I left one star blank to leave room for more utility in the future. At $29, worth the money - especially because of the smart plugs they were bundled with.

I always wanted the Echo, but felt that it was a little pricey. The Echo Dot is perfect in price and its ability to sync with any Bluetooth speaker make it a winner. Most of the time I use the speaker it comes with, instead of syncing it to another speaker. I am going to begin to purchase more accessories for my home that my Echo Dot can control

I bought this as a gift, the house already has many items that the Alexa can control so it was useful. It's about the size of a hockey puck and basically does all the same things as the bigger echo.
