No perfect but well worth the money. Voice control of music, tell lame joiks, weather, control home things, set alarm and more. Many questions not answered. Once line of questions started you should not need to say Alexa for every new question. If device remained in listening mode for a period of time after first opening it could be more conversational. This time should be set by user for privacy and be able to turn off. Over time unit should be improved. I have given these for gifts and they have been a big hit.

This was my first Amazon echo product and I have to admit, Im pretty impressed. First off...the dot is small/compact enough to be hidden out of site but still be useful. Alexa responds to voice command even from a distance away. Second...the capabilities are endless. We haven't had the opportunity to use it with other adaptive devices, but connected it to our beats pill speaker and it works well for listening to Pandora or Spotify. We're looking to upgrade our door locks and lights to be compatible with the Echo dot. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is due to the small speaker and sometimes the Alexa app can be a little slow..other than that this little device packs a punch for the cost.

The whole family absolutely loves our echo dot! I’m a college student, so I pay less for unlimited music, and even the kids take advantage of testing the limits of that. Can’t wait to get another one for upstairs!

The echo dot is awesome and provides very good value for its price . I use it for alarm , music , weather and to control the lights.

The Echo Dot is a good piece of smart home tech that allows the ease of voice-ordering from Amazon, controlling smart, Wi-Fi enabled tech, and the knowledge of the entire Alexa database all from your own couch. My family and I are surprised by its breadth of knowledge and how easy it is to use. It may fall short of Google in terms of the accuracy of the information it gives (since its main source is Wikipedia), but overall the Echo Dot is a good beginner voice assistant to add to your home.

this little thing is so cool. Turns the lights and TV on, easily connects to external speaker for great sounds with amazon music

This is my second echo dot. I purchased this one as a gift for my teen daughter. She uses it everyday. If you are considering an echo but not sure if it will be useful the dot is low cost intro to echo and Alexa.

I got this for my family to try out and Alexa is really pretty fun! It’s was easy to set up & links directly to your amazon account. It has a lot of great features & games. We especially liked that you can link to lights in your home (through the hue app) but you DO have to purchase the lightbulbs for that to work. We play a lot of music so we ended up purchasing the larger version to have better sound quality although we still use the echo in another room. Did I mention they link together?

I was jealous when our son showed us his Amazon Show and some of the things it was capable of doing. Since AOL eliminated Instant Messaging, my wife and I were less able to communicate because our offices are on separate floors. So we got two Shows and two Dots and now not only can intercom easily but use Alexa for music and many other things. We will probably start using some smart home devices which Alexa can also control. It's a fun device which seems to be getting better all the time.

I'm having fun with it, so far it's more like a novelty but I haven't spent a lot of time looking into all it can do. I like the alarm feature and also the play sounds feature, helps me sleep at night.

I like it not just for the music but I use it for my netflix and fire stick and I also use it as my alarm clock as well

The echo dot is incredible. Have it attached to my lights and tv. My opinion is you just need the dots rather then the full echo.

Great for news, temperature, fun little games and trivia - our favorite thing to do with it so far is the "question of the day" skill, which is trivia that covers all kinds of subjects. Echo is great at hearing things, even if you stumble over your words. The only complaint I have so far is the searching capabilities; it doesn't quite yet have the ability to just answer random questions like the things you would Google on a regular basis. Searching recipes is cool, adding reminders and an instant timer are helpful, playing music with any sort of account you stream from (excluding iTunes) with one spoken sentence is awesome. So is the ability to make lists. Great for the $30, all in all!

Love it. Great for bed room to get time, weather, play music, set sleep timer, sports scores, etc. Easy set up and quality speaker.

I love my echos. I have at least 5 in my business and the features like drop in and music are constantly being used. They are sometimes a bit buggy working together but they are updated so often I don't sweat it.

Integrates well with your smart home devices. Not as loud as I'd prefer for music but that's really not its intended use. For that get the full Echo. Using with Logitech Harmony hub and works very well

The sound volume is limited, but about right for the kids room(according to the parents). It brings so much functionality beyond music it’s crazy. My 14 year old daughter uses it for an amazing number of things.

First, the slight negative is that the speaker sound is very soft and tinny. If you are looking for great sound, get the full Echo. However, for $50 this thing is awesome and plays music for cooking, dinner time, and hanging out and fills a large room well enough. Controls my av system well so if I need better sound it works great. Controls my wemo system, logitech remotes, nest thermostat. My wife loves it as much as I do (and she hates gadgets). My kids love it too. Bought 3 for gifts and they all love it.

I like it. Keeps me company. No problems with set up or use. Mainly use it for news/weather updates and music.

Does everything the big one does for a fraction of the price just pair to a good sounding Bluetooth speaker and you are good to go.
