I think the Echo Dot was s a good product. It helps make some things easier around the house through the voice automation. I've used it to play music, turn on lights, change the temperature in the house, tell bedtime stories, tell time, get whether updates, set timers while cooking, and set alarms. I've got Echo Dots in the house. I would be nice if while playing music in one room, you could transfer the same music the another room with a another Echo Dot. I gave 4 stars mostly because I have all apple products and the Echo Dot hasn't intergrated with any apple products or services, probably not through any fault of their own. But for what the Echo Dot is and for what it does, it does it well.

We have one in almost every room of the house. You can pair each one with a Dish Network Hopper or Joey and control each one individually with your voice. Just when I thought I couldn't get any lazier...

I already own an Amazon echo and wanted one in the bedroom so I purchased this product. I find that the mics on the Echo Dot are better than the original and can hear me from different corners of the room. It's great to have one on the night stand for news and my home automation needs. Best part about this Echo is the ability to add external speakers which in my opinion makes it better than the original because you don't have to sacrifice sound quality and still benefit from Alexa integration.

Very easy to set up and use. You don't need extra speakers. Nice to be able to hear any song you want just by speaking.

Good easy way to play around with Alexa and the voice controlled IoT universe. I own a full size Echo as well so it's a nice complement for rooms where you don't plan to listen to music. Same functionality of the full sized Echo but the speaker is weak (as should be expected). It sounds like an old cell phone speaker so really is only good for voice control or speak and response. Not good for music...but nice if you have a Bluetooth speaker, A/V system & receiver or simple bookshelf speakers.

I have an echo in my living room and one in my bedroom. I use them consistently throughout the day. Turning lights on and off, setting alarms, checking the weather, getting a new brief, and most recently with my Plex media server. The voice training on the voice, so it recognizes how YOU specifically say words, is helpful. My 5 year old can even talk to it and it understands him. The new skills are constantly being updated. I foresee the Echo and similar products become standard accessories in the home. The echo doesn't provide any functionality that doesn't exist in another device in your home, but it does add convenience and save time. It's definitely helpful, but isn't a must-have.

This device has changed my life , I have it controlling my entire home. With the right devices you can control all your home theater, lights, xmas lights, thermostat, its remarkable, all with your voice.

Bought the dot to add to the echo I already have (although the larger echo is not needed to have a dot). The dot is a great way to add echo capabilities to other rooms. The one negative is that the speaker is not as nice as the original echo, but that is something that is well documented in the product description and other review. This is not a huge negative, unless you plan on listening to music through it. The big positive of the dot is that you can connect it to speakers you already have.

We have them all over the house and back yard the sound good and are easy to set up

The Dot provides the same functions as full size Echo, minus better built in speaker. However, linking to Bluetooth is a simple (once linked, you can connect with simple voice command) and the Dot has a aux line to cord out to other devices — the other Echos do not. Performance wise, Alexa is fantastic and loaded with skills you can add to customize your experience. The price point is a steal for the plethora of options it provides. This is the smart assistant to buy.

We bought 1 echo dot for the living room and loved it so much that we bought an echo dot for every room of our house. Alexa is just so useful! From setting our wake time, to telling us the forecast; from playing our music and even telling jokes; This product hasn't fallen short of fantastic! I would highly recommend! Btw, Voice recognition is crystal clear and fantastic. You don't feel like you're yelling at it. You can talk at the normal volume and she'll recognize your voice.

I love this product. Works great out of the box. Takes a bit of time to program your selections, but well worth the effort.

The Echo Dot is a great little device, but might be a bit limited unless you have IoT devices in your home. We have an Ecobee3 so it's very nice to be able to use the Dot to adjust the thermostat. As the Dot integrates with more connected components, I'm sure my rating will go to a 5. In particular, I can't wait for Sonos integration which apparently is coming soon. I was surprised to find that our 2.5 year old toddler loves the Dot. He thinks it is the coolest thing. It's very convenient for quickly playing a variety of kids music. Amazon Prime is a must have. My only other complaint is that the speaker could be slightly better. Although, I suppose that would cut into Echo and Tap sales.

Lots of fun. Just started exploring all of the possibilities. I use Alexa to turn on the lights in a dark room. Get the weather, listen to the news and weather without having to turn on the TV and wait for the weather segment. Set timers without having to set the microwave timer. Set alarms. Change my thermostat temperature. Listen to the radio, play music. Do internet searches. Just to name a few. Echo DOT at the sale price of $39.99 was a great way to get started with this new technology.

The Echo Dot is a decent digital voice device. While I am more familiar with the Google Home devices, this Amazon device also does a good job of being a digital voice device. I purchased this on Black Friday for $29.99 and also received a TP-Link Smartplug for only $5 more. What a great deal!

This little device has pretty good sound and knows what to play as long as you ask it. Overall nice unit for the price....

I have been team Apple for years. I purchased the echo dot to work with my smart home products and find myself using it for much more. Alarms, music,news, games...pretty much anything you can think of.
