I bought this for a housewarming gift. Family loves it. They already have an Echo but they are using this in another area. If you are wondering, you don't need an Echo to use the Dot. The main difference I find between them is that the sound quality of music in the echo is much better than the dot. However, with the dot, you can plug it into a speaker and then control music from your phone or tablet. I have both and love each of them. For the price it's great.

This technology is great, it is the most versatile piece of eguipment that I have bought in the last five years. I was so impressed with the first one that I bought this one for a gift.

I love my Echo Dot! I wanted the Echo but was definitely not in need of a speaker as well so the Dot was the perfect option. I now use my Echo dot to help keep myself organized with lists and the added ability for Alexa to control my Philips Hue lights is a major plus. Alexa doesn't always understand what I am asking but she is getting smarter week by week and I'm still surprised by how intuitive her capabilities are becoming. Very VERY happy with my Dot!

A great companion to my Echo. Very easy setup. Easy to pair with a Bluetooth speaker for better sound.

This unit is great gives weather tells jokes. Sets timers and alarms. Plays music just name artist. Great buy.

Alexa comes in very handy when i need a quick answer to a trivia question or know the weather or play my music completely hands free. And does not take up too much space.

I had purchased the main Amazon Echo unit and have been using it for several months now. Amazon then released the DOT and I said who needs this when I have Alexia? Well it is an extension of Alexia and can be put in other rooms doing the same operations that Alexia does. I can connect this to my stereo system and have it play music since I am a Prime member. I'm thinking about getting another especially when it is on sale for $39 and putting it in my bedroom.

Always listening, if that bothers you stop reading, but no monster tube clashing with your decor. I've got one in every room and the Dots ability to identify the nearest one is amazing.

Great addition to Amazon echo devices. I have a second Echo Dot as well as the Amazon echo main speaker and two Echo Shows. I have them located in each room. This Echo is located in my bathroom. Are use the echoes not only for music and all the wonderful things that I like centers but mainly for dropping in to another room to speak with a family member in that room if I need help.

Sound was pour and not very responsive. I had to practically yell at it so I returned it. I am now trying echo second generation. Speaker is much better . Alexa doesn’t do all that much and still not all that responsive

Neat product to ask about the weather, play music, etc. Nice compact size but wished speaker was a bit louder. You can connect via Bluetooth to an external speaker for better sound.

Enjoying my Echo Dot. Works well and fun to use. Reasonably priced.

small but powerful, sturdy, and smart ! do as good as regular Amazon Echo can with less than half the price!

I purchased this out of curiosity, and I ended up liking the echo dot a lot. I can get to listen to music and check the weather on the fly. When I'm sleep I sometimes put if on rainforest noises or crickets chirping. My son loves it two asking what's 1+1 even though he knows the answer. The only issue I have is I wish they would only remember your voice, because my son is only 8 and he thinks its funny when I'm listening to music and he says echo, music off.

I have 3 of them all hooked up to Bluetooth speakers. Great for controlling smart devices playing music etc.

OK I am a little embarrassed to admit that we have 3 alexa devices in our home. We have one original alexa and 2 echo dots. (and I have purchased a dot for my sister as well) All devices work with SmartThings and control my smart bulbs. I also enjoy the convenience of asking Alexa to set up a timer, a reminder, turn off/on lights, what the weather is etc... I think they make wonderful gifts and I love all 3 of mine.

Echo dot has all the functions of the larger version- if you have a large space or want to hear throughout the house upgrade for better speakers or use your own through Bluetooth.

My 13 year old daughter needed a new alarm clock and on a whim, I purchased this as an alternative. As an alarm clock, it works beautifully. Instead of fumbling with dials and buttons, she simply says "Alexa, wake me up at ..." Of course, it does so much more: It's become her speaker of choice; plays games; gives her the weather report every morning; and Alexa even helps with homework! I bought the Echo Dot on sale for $40 and it was well worth the price.
