Everyone had the same idea and everyone in the family ended up getting one from someone. It works great and everyone loves it! It does just what it says it does.

I'll start with the cons: - Background noise can interfere with its detection and accuracy. - Be aware that children should not use it unsupervised if purchasing is enabled - Reasonable as a speaker, not great. And so far, that's it. Pros galore: - Very responsive - Extremely accurate when not interfered with (by background noise) - Long distance reception: 30 feet and two rooms away without yelling! - Fast response - Fairly polite and communicates well (acknowledgements) - Fun when you're bored, still fun when you're not - Able to control a huge number of devices and has a wide range of capabilities

Love this thing I bought the dot for my office added a speaker to it and I love it ask it everything and treat it like your assistant. For reminders and information.

I like the item. I wanted to try the echo since I already have Google home.

Works so far, just trying to get other devices hooked up. Taking some time.

I have three total now and would not have a problem buying another. Excellent device and they keep getting better with additional apps added constantly

This thing is as frustrating as it is entertaining. Alexa is like a cranky toddler sometimes and doesn't listen worth a darn. But for sheer coolness factor, being able to tell Alexa to play a favorite artist and then it plays is awesome.

For the price point the Echo is great as a tool for asking questions, using as a personal assistant for timer, scheduling and lists. Great gift for home and family use.

Great gift for teenagers in the home. It works well and very easy to set up!

Nice and can be hooked up to bluetooth, but really don't need to. If you have the Echo, you will love the dot...even if you don't you will love it. They work independently.

Use Echo dot mainly for music & weather. Hooked up very nice speakers sounds great. Play around experimenting with different questions and some surprising answers love it

I’m writing this review after the 3rd gen Echo Dot has come out, so I am well aware of the newer unit’s improvements. I would highly recommend this generation if you’ve got some decent quality (or better) speakers to connect to it.

What a great tool and entertainment option to have available for in the home now have multiple units at home and at 2 different office locations

We have 3, one at each of our work places and at home. It is great for all kinds of questions and as a last minute alarm. We look forward to adding new smart devices to it

I bought this after the Echo Plus for another room. Was on a great sale around the holidays. I put this in the kitchen so I could use it to make a grocery list.

Amazing product. I love all I have to do is just talk to Alexa and I have all my questions answered. I can Sony my Makeup without having to get up and change anything.

I wanted to give this a try. The price is right--and after getting it in my hands, well worth the money. It's a toy, but it's also useful. My favorite feature is being able to send shopping list and to do items from anywhere in my house (within hearing distance, which is pretty dang large). Now I don't have to remember to add something to my list the next time I'm at my counter to right it down. I just ask Alexa and she does it for me--even while I'm brushing my teeth. How great is that?!? Best Buy had this in stock, even though amazon had a wait list, so I was really happy to be able to pick this up in the store.

It's hard to beat the price. Even if you buy a decent quality speaker separately the combined price with the echo dot is still a bargain compared to other competitors.

Good companiin piece to an Amazon Prime membership. Compact, easy to use, Alexa is pretty user friendly. Would be even better if it had its own rechargeable battery.

this is the fourth one of these I have bought. Will always buy them on sale. This one is a present to one of my kids so we can drop in to each other.
