Really enjoy my Echo dot, and got this second one to have in another room. Great for controlling lights and different devices, plus getting info.

Alexa isn't a treasure trove of information as the commercials make her out to be (which is my reasoning for only 4 stars), but controlling/setup of home automation products like Philips Hue, Wemo, Nest couldn't be much simpler. Absolutely love it!

I have this hooked up to my nest and smart lights. I say some specified words and it turns up or down or on off... Perfect... Also plays music when you ask...

I am surprised by how good the sound is for size of the dot. I not going to say it is great sound but it was better then expected. Alexa is a decent AI as well.

Works perfect with my Dish Network as well. Tells me the weather in the mornings. And works great with my amazon Prime as it gives me music while I clean house.

Good for timers, scheduling, questions, and controlling smart devices !

Was, at first, skeptical about this item. But find it to be extremely useful and entertaining. So much so, that I purchased another one for use in my garage/workshop.

I have echos in every room of my home and they are awesome and helpful.

A key component to starting a Smart Home system is somehow getting the devices to work together. The Echo Dot is the most affordable and convenient way to control devices such as your smart thermostat and light together. By enabling different "skills" on the Dot, you can simply tell the Dot the increase the temperature or turn on your lights. Aside from controlling your smart devices, you can listen to music and order from Amazon. There is a lot this little device can do. I have bought 4 and placed them in key rooms in my house so that I can "talk" to the Alexa interface no matter where I am in my home.

You can ask practically anything and they will give the correct answer.

I purchased this with my first pair of Sonos 1 speakers. Unfortunately, the Alexa commands were too long and complex to make using it worth the trouble. The Echo lived in the garage streaming music to some old computer speakers for a while. Then we purchased a new Sonos Move speaker and I discovered the new Groups feature and I was able to re-integrate the back as Sonos controller. I just added a gen 3 echo for better Alexa coverage my wife really likes music/voice control.

If you get it free with purchase, then go for it, otherwise spend a bit more and get the 3rd generation as it has a better sound and look.

easy to use and really responsive my voice commands, though I'm still learning the proper way to phrase things Alexa will recognize. So far, I really like the device

This smart device is really convenient for my daily routines. The device doesn't do much on its own; you enhance its abilities by adding "skills" to it through the Amazon Alexa app. Some of the skills include a Starbucks reorder skill, which reorders your favorite drink at a selected store, or the Lyft skill, which can order a Lyft to your address right away. Before adding skills, the Echo Dot has features like the ability to play music through Prime Music (or Amazon Music Unlimited if you are subscribed to it), order items from Amazon, set alarms and timers, or listen to a daily news briefing that includes your favorite news sources. At $50, the device is a fantastic way to dip your toes into the pool of AI and smart home devices, though I do wish the cost of the device was less. They would certainly sell many more if the price became more attractive.

I use the Echo constantly- as a timer in the kitchen, weather information, NPR in the morning. My son uses it to check his math homework in the evening. Great device!

We have other connected devices and this one was flawless to integrate into our ecosystem. My wife loves how easy it is to use and helps while hands are full or dirty.

I bought one of these a few months ago and found that I use it in two locations but only had one device. Easily solved by a fathers dad present for my second one.

Bought this for my daughter, but after giving it a test run, kept it for myself. Great for asking questions.. And playing music. Love that Alexa is always listening.
