Since it does not have a search engine attached to it (like Google Home), asking questions to look up items of interest is limited. "Alexa" is only able to do what "skills" she has available. While the skills are plentiful, still not the same has having the power of a search engine at your finger tips.

Though not always able to provide an answer depending on what you ask. It is possible for the Echo Dot to learn more skills, which can expand what you ask it. The microphones can pick up your voice using a normal speaking volume and can work from a good distance away.

I didn't think I would use it much. I am glad I bought it. I use it everyday. When I read about it the point is missed at what this device is best at. And that is streaming music. You can use Amazon Music or Spotify libraries for a small monthly fee. It also streams thousands of radio stations as well and that is free. It also connects to your favorite Bluetooth speaker with ease.
