This is a great buy! I bought this around Christmas time and it’s a great assistant. You can ask Alexa anything, weather, time, etc. It will also play music playlists, and play trivia games. I would definitely recommend this if you are on the fence. Unless your name is Alexa lol

While it must work better by adding into its abilities with smart home equipment, on its own it's nice to have around to ask questions, set timers and use as an alarm clock. Along with all those functions you can also play music although the speaker is undersized. For the price it's a steal.

I purchase the echo on the recommendation of a co-worker and I must say that it was a very good purchase as it ties into a lot of things around our villa. I will say that the bass is not that great but it does play music just fine still. My kids love it as they can do activities with Alexa.

every day i ask her the weather. i ask her how my commute to work will be. i always bonce measurement conversions off her. i love to not have to get up to turn on the lights in the house anymore. she controls the thermostat when im hot or cold. very cool for only $40

I chose the white version, over the standard black. Couldn't be happier with my choice. I'm not well steeped into the Amazon Eco system. My intention was to primarily playback Pandora, via an audio cable, to my receiver. I can now play music into the night, As my receiver will go to sleep (when there is no sensed connection) after a set timeout; this works in tandem with the command: Alexa, turnoff after x minutes.

Alexa does not seem to have answers to a lot of questions, and It does not seem to be compatible with any of my appliances

I bought the Echo Dot as a gift for my parents along with a smart outlet. I was able to help them sync up their new “smart home” devices and teach them to use them in a less than an hour. They really love Alexa (and so do the grandkids) and are considering more smart home devices.

I got this product with the BOSE Speaker, it is the 1st voice controlled device, Works fine.

What can I say, I'm hooked on Alexa. She feeds me weather and news every morning. So convenient to use its stupid. Have bought a few of these as gifts and everyone's first response is "why the heck did you buy me this?" Then, after about a week they praise it. It's comical to watch the cycle.

Great accessory to full size Echo. Didn't realize that this was a stand alone device though.

The Dot works well. I have it paired with a nice Bluetooth speaker and it seems to do all right with pairing on its own or with instruction. The key to making Alexa more useful are skills, of which there are still a limited number of useful ones, but the number is growing. It catches and understands most requests but once in while it will respond to "ghost prompts" if there is a lot of audible activity in the room.

At times it is unreliable but for the most part it behaves as described. I have to speak the exact keywords. Which, I guess is to be expected at this juncture in tech. My Apple HomePod is a little more forgiving but doesn’t control as many smart devices at this time. I would say that I am happy and satisfied with the Dot. I went and ordered a second one for a family member in the household.

I was given an Echo Dot by my employer for Christmas, and purchased two more for a home bound aunt and the pastor of my wife's church. This is the most revolutionary gadget I've ever seen at such a low cost. We explore new things using the Dot every day. I can't recommend this highly enough.
