We have both the Echo and the Echo Dot. The Dot does not sound nearly as good or have all the features of the full sized Echo but nonetheless is a great purchase if you are just looking for a voice capable device to do simple tasks, such as play music or ask about the weather.

Easy to setup. Lots of fun for the whole family. It gives something to all of us..

Great little device and the kids love interacting with it and asking it questions.

I was hoping this would be more useful. It knows the weather, and can play a song list, so we get some good out of it, but most all other questions we ask Alexa she does not know the answer. Thus this is not very useful, but certainly entertaining to see what it will say.

I bought 2 of these items as gifts for my son in laws. They were very excited to get them.

there is a learning curve, but I am enjoying using the echo. I just order the phillips color hue bulbs and system. I think it will be amazing to set the mood for a great evening with the wife, and be fun to watch the grandkids response to the color changes and watch them talk to echo

We gave one to each of two boys, ages 12 & 9. Their interests are totally different so the Echo is satisfying each to the max. It keeps them totally occupied without fighting and is another source as a study aid. They had all the toys except this one. It is a hit every day!

Bought a couple of these to use as intercoms in my kids rooms. Works good but doesn't pick up sound or sound as good as the third generation dot I have on my desk. One compatibility problem I had was with Disney Circle. If the echo is assigned to a teen account in Circle then the drop in function is blocked so you will need to assign it to a general household account.

Love this product. I was hesitant at first because of the always on and listening feature. However I have no worries and I am not disappointed with this item. The only issue is that you have to speak clearly in order to get the response you want. Besides that, I recommend buying this item.

Echo dots are an amazing addition to any smart home. Even without using it to control your home, it's great just for everyday use. While we're watching TV, my dad was curious to know how old Terry Bradshaw was. Just ask alexa and you get the answer in seconds!

I love my echo put it in my bedroom, listen to music nightly before sleep.

They love it! I gave it 4 stars because the setup isn't as easy as my show was.

I know that there are mixed reviews for Apple's digital assistant, Siri, but I've never had anything but good things to say about the lady from Down Under (OK, so I chose the female Australian voice...sue me). She does everything I need a digital assistant to do, and she normally does it flawlessly. Sure, a hiccup here and there, but I can ask for music from my iTunes library on demand, call up a podcast, have texts read to me while I drive, respond to said texts without taking my eyes off the road, and pretty much ask any inane question I need answered, when I need it answered. That's my Siri experience. Alexa was great. The Echo Dot is tiny and connects to the input on a mega stereo system. Alexa has tons of skills to enable. She can hear from far away and call up anything that's in my Amazon ecosystem of media. But do you know what? The bells and whistles did nothing for me. She didn't add anything to my world that my Apple TV, iPhone, and Siri can't already do for me. So, I'm kinda thinking the Echo and Alexa are average. To top it all off, Alexa can't dial a number, send a text, or read my email. Siri can. In my book, Siri, and Apple, win.

After so many people have admired my smart devices (Echo Dot and Google Home), I decided these would make perfect gifts. This purchase was a birthday gift to a family member. I think the black (mine) looks better but white was all that was available on the day I made this purchase.

I didn't liked that if I asked her something she never knew anything and it sat there most of the time. So I return it.

Received this for Christmas. Still getting used to it, so o will update more soon.

We really enjoy having music so easily accessable. Trivia is fun too.

I started off buying one of the Echo dots, but ended up giving two as gifts for my family. I also purchased and configured a LIFX bulb to go with it. The Echo is responsive to the commands and we rarely repeat ourselves. It was also handy to set timers for giving medicine to our daughter.
