I purchased an Echo Dot for my parents after they became interested in my Google Home. While there are advantages to both devices, I do think the Amazon option is friendlier to a less tech-savvy audience. It offers more options in the way of entertainment and has a [minimally] simpler interface. It works well for their needs, and the Home for mine.

The Amazon echo is such a huge hit in my household that I decided to spread the music, the news, audiobooks, jokes, games, and smart hub around, with the echo dot. While you don't need it's bigger older brother Echo to get all of it's features, a subscription to Amazon prime puts it in the must have category. Sound quality is a muffled due to size.

This was a Chistmas gift for my brother. There are a number of limitations, including no blu-tooth phone connect-ability. He understood the limitations (before I made the purchase) and he likes to be able to see what the stock market is doing, play some music, or hear a joke.

bought alexa at a good price. she is very informative.

It's good.. only down side is speaker isn't real loud. Its ok for small office or night stand. I bought it for my daughter because she wanted something to use when she get ups in the morning and gets ready for work. Its not cordless either :(

Could be used in many ways if you are setup for it. Lots of fun

I purchased four of these as gifts. And one gift was for me. So far I've connected it to turn on my tv. Connected it to my smart thermostat and it wakes me up daily. Gives me a need brief and gets smarter daily. Did I mention it's only 49.00.

My amazon eco dot works great, very easy and fun to use.

I like the larger echo but this works for bedrooms etc.

I'm kind of late to the game. It works just as described but I'm still a bit freaked about amazon listening to everything that happens in my home. So, yes it's a good unit. Jury is out as to if I want it in my house.

If you have ever used or are familiar with the Amazon Echo than the Amazon Echo Dot will not let you down. While it is smaller than the Amazon Echo it does virtually everything the Amazon Echo does. Again, you will not be disappointed!

Love this thing! Siri annoys me, so I stopped asking her questions and now I go to Alexa who will actually give me an answer instead of a website haha it's pretty cool and can do a lot!

I already had a Google Home prior to getting Phillips Hue lights for Christmas. But Amazon has certain lighting features, such as color “scenes” and “color loop”. So I purchased the dot just so that I could utilize those features.

Just wish the volume went a little louder but I love this!!!!

You don't realize how much you will use this until you have it!

I use my Echo Dots to turn lights on and off, set alarms and timers and many other tasks. It also tells jokes to my grandson. I purchased another Echo dot to take with me during my winter stay in Colombia. I get news from home as well as weather reports for both where I am and back home. I really like this device.

I would recommend it to everyone. It's great when you want to listen to music. You just tell Alexa what you want to hear. It will give you the weather forecast. All of my children (adults) like it. and feel like it's a cool item to have.
