My mother-in-law has issues with her vision and we bought this so she ask about things like the time and the weather. Also, it's great for reading books to her and playing music for her.

I purchased this Alexa to accent my dish network service. I have found it to be very interesting. I allow it to set appointments and to play music. I found it easier to change channels without moving from my chair.

Have a full size Echo and enjoy it, bought this so I could connect to my bluetooth speaker bar for fuller sound. I have had several issues, most notably the Dot will spontaneously resume playing after I have told it to stop. This happens almost daily, I start listening to a playlist, stop the play to go outside and walk the dog, when I come back the Dot is playing again. No one is home to start it. The Alexa app shows no received voice commands. Seems to have something to do with the bluetooth connection. The Dot also seems more temperamental to its WiFi connection, have had to reset it several time (my full size Echo is rock solid). Still like it enough for 3 stars but Amazon has some debugging to do.

I didn't know much about the dot/echo but when a friend showed it to me, it seemed like a great gift for my husband who is hard to buy for. It's something you could live without but once you have it, you're so glad you do!

I love this gadget. This thing is so much fun. What a great price also! She doesn't always have all the answers, but she has many and is real handy. There are some fun things in the future with smart appliances and Alexa.

This device continues to "get smarter" as you use it, learning your likes and dislikes, the way you say certain things, etc. It continues to amaze me with the things it can do. It's only limited by your own imagination!

Purchased this Amazon Dot to make us feel more secure in our home. We can ask Alexa to call our children or 911 if my wife or I need help..We both are in our 80s. Already needed to use it once.

I have her in 5 rooms in my home. Although they are supposed to hear you from the closest location- it isn't uncommon for 2 to set timers and go off simultaneously but not in sync. If you have music playing in the Living room and you want to turn down the volume say to answer your phone while you're in the bedroom- don't expect the one in the bedroom to turn the loud living room off when you ask her too and your. She constantly says unable to connect but if you ask her what time it is she reconnects. Not very reliable. There is a ton she can't answer compared to Google Home. Downside with Google home is it works with pretty much nothing right now. As soon as that changes I could see Google's voice technology taking over Alexa by leaps and bounds....but until they work with Wink and all the other home automation stuff I have I'll stick with Alexa. She isn't that bad but far from great.

You must have prime to get everything out of echo.

We already had a couple echos and echo dots. This is the first version and was on sale for a great price. I actually got this for a gift exchange, but I would recommended any of the echo products.

Bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas. Her 13 year old sisters got phones, but she didn't seem to mind after playing with this. She can listen to her favorite songs, set her alarm, and even laugh at Alexa's jokes!!

Surprisingly disappointing but don’t worry, this was the last of the poor-sounding echo dots. The third and 4th gen sound great and I find Alexa to be a better AI assistant than Siri.

Use mostly for music. Great source for information

This is the coolest device. No complaints. Must be tech savvy to install but overall awesome. Alexa even has a sense of humor! We will buy more and even devises to operate our TV, etc. Bought my parents one as well!

Nice to have for sure, but slow to respond half the time. You have to say the wakeup prompt quite often even when its just 3 ft away and speaking clearly. All in all has been entertaining and helpful especially for the great sale price of 29.99.

I already had the full size Echo downstairs. The Echo Dot was a nice addition. Its on my night stand and use it to check the weather every morning. The integration with my Sonos speaker is very useful as well.

I bring this whenever I travel. I think the sound could be better but I keep looking out for newer versions. I've bought these as gifts for friends and family members as well.

Ok so I went on a echo buying frenzy! Two dots, echo, and the show. All linked together but in separate rooms. They make great intercoms via drop in. Buy a couple of these just for that. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this from Best Buy as it was actually cheaper than from Amazon at the time. Now amazon is cheaper. I highly recommend as it has networked my rooms and plugged into my stereo without issue.
