it works as advertised. In fact loved it so much I returned it for the larger/full size Echo. Returned it because I decided I wanted the bigger speakers. The tiny speaker will work in low noise environments but do not expect to fully enjoy your music or audio books without attaching a external speaker of some sorts.

This is a great buy. Especially if you can find a special promotion with 3rd edition coming out. It does everything we need - play music, read audible books, tells us news, etc. Only thing is the sound quality when you play music. My echo dot is connected to a Bose speaker and all is well.

This is a great and fun smart speaker for the entire family. Everyone is using it everyday. It's not a 5-start item because of the sound quality for playing music. My echo dot is connected to a Bose speaker so I'm good. It appears that the 3rd generation echo dot may have fixed this issue.

I bought an Echo a while back and loved it so I bought two more Echo Dot as a gift to my college nieces who live in the Philippines. Their excitement as well as mine died when I found out Echo is not supported in the Philippines! Bummer! I wish there was a warning that says "Not Supported In Other Countries"!

I have the first generation and got this one now, it is the same thing the only thing the changes is the shape and color other than that it works exactly the same as 1st gen.

Alexa is a great way to add a fun assistant to your home. The Echo Dot is very cost-effective and easy to place out of the way. Doesn't have the speakers of the larger Echo, but there's no real distinction,

Love it! Makes my life easier. Ask Alexa anything and she will get it for you. Ask silly questions and she gives silly answers. Very amusing in that aspect.

Due to the children, lights get left on all the time when getting ready for bed. We have found it very convenient to ask Alexa to turn the light/s off downstairs instead of one of us going back down to turn them off.

This is such a wonderful innovation. You can ask Alexa almost anything and she has the answer. Plus, so much wonderful music at your command. Connection via bluetooth to a quality speaker is instant. I love it!

Overall, my favorite part of the echo is convenience. It's the easiest way for me to find out the weather, play some music, or set a timer or alarm. I believe it could be smarter, but overall it does enough for me,

I actually don't make good use of this but I am not used to having this type of device...that said, it is pretty cool to have so much information at a verbal request. Well worth the money!

Got this for my gadget-loving husband who is difficult to surprise. He spent a lot of time (which he loves) researching the "skills" Alexa has, and trying them out! This has been a great gift & a home run! .

T Echo dots performed as expected Based on this experience and price matching. I will automate my home with purchasing from Best Buy. In person personal service was the key

This was purchased to be used mainly for its voice command functions and to listen to music in a small space. As expected, the speaker is not as good as the Echo. It would be better to catch the echo on sale and get a 2nd one for improved speaker output.

This was a gift for our office White Elephant party. It was a huge hit. Everyone wanted it, and the guy who actually won it, has mentioned just how "awesome" this product really is. I'm glad it worked out.

I bought these as gifts but we have ha an Echo Dot for almost a year and use it every day. Like Siri for the living room. Kids use it to ask questions with good results. The only thing lacking is the music quality when streaming. Not terrible but definitely not as good as the tower that Amazon makes.

Have one in every bedroom in our house and the kids love being able to set their own alarms and timers. They love to listen to music by just asking and love to ask Alexa the weather and to tell them jokes.

I love these units. I have a few at home and one at work. I can control everything from anywhere in the house. Shopping list and to do lists are awesome. Pair this with some LIFX lights or Wemo switches and your set.

Alexa is great for simple tasks and questions. I use it on a daily basis. More complex questions she can't answer which is odd since she is connected to the internet. 4 out of 5 stars just because the questions. Maybe they could make her learn so next time you ask the same question, she will have an answer?
