We have both in our house and I have to say the Echo Dot is a better unit for the money. And so many features included. And Alexa’s far field mic is very good at picking up instructions at good distance.

Very useful, we use our echo dot to control our smart devices (lights, thermostat, speakers), set timers and as an intercom to other echo dots in our home. Sometimes I feel Alexa is not as "smart" as other AIs but the dot is compatible with so many smart devices in our house that we stick with it.

The amazon dot is as functional as the Amazon echo but in a slimline package. With the available battery that matches the profile of the Amazon dot, it becomes extremely portable as long as there's Wi-Fi available.

Sure, the Echo can answer questions and control connected devices, but for the most part I could already do that with apps on the smart phone. The most interesting facility, for me, was asking about products/pricing --but of course, that answered with the data from Amazon. (Good for them, who knows what for me)

I love my Echo Dot so much, I bought two more for other rooms in the house. It's fun to use and I really like that it allows me to use my Amazon Prime music a lot more. The only thing is that it seems to wake on it's own sometimes and is pretty sensitive to the TV in the family room. Overall though, we love it!

I originally received the Amazon Echo as a gift. Since then, I have purchased two dots. The dots function as well as the larger Echo, but lack the sound quality somewhat. To compensate for that I have paired each with a Bluetooth speaker, and now can enjoy music, podcasts, etc. on each level of our home.

Bought as a gift for my beastie and her family after buying one for my husband for Christmas. Not only has my husband enjoyed taking it with him when he travels for work, but our kids enjoy it too.

We had bought an Echo on sale and lived it. So when I saw a one day deal at Best Buy for the Dot, I purchased it for another area. Love it. A few minor problems but we're learning more about it as we use it.

The Echo Dot does everything that Amazon said it would It worked great for getting a couple of great deals on Prime Day that were only available to Alexa users. Also useful for controlling devices in my home.

This echo dot is a great thing to have in the home. The kids love it, it's educational and you can ask it any question you like as well as link it to your iTunes and have it play any artist, any genre, at anytime.

Fun little splurge with constant new skills being added. Product itself is great with the exception of when changing the 'trigger' name from Alexa to something else and the voice recognition doesn't pick it up. Changed it back to Alexa and it's humming along just fine now. Fun little gadget.

I don't want to remember what life was like before Alexa. I have found a plethora of fun uses for this very clever n helpful service. It's providing my house with its own soundtrack. I recommend it to anyone.

The convenience of asking Alexa when your hands are full and can't check your phone or laptop is unsurpassed!!! Also the fact that I can now turn on/off lights without stumbling in the dark makes it super useful!!

I have had my Echo Dot for a few months and it works great for what I use it for--playing music, setting alarms, getting the weather, answering some questions. My only issue with it is that it won't play my playlists from Spotiify, that is, the playlists from iTunes that were uploaded to Spotify.

This for integrates well will my Firestick. The downside as if late is the fact that when an Amazon commercial comes on TV, the Echo starts responding to what is happening on the TV.

Always wanted to try out Alexa and the Echo Dot allowed me to do just that! She listens really well and I very seldom have to repeat myself. Turning my Wemo switches off with my voice is some next level stuff.

I'm hoping this solves some issues with controlling a fishnet hopper in s room where IR control is tough. It works well for basic info - how did the tigers do? This year the answer is likely that they lost.

I was a little confused when I first tried to use since no manual is provided. Once I new what I was doing it was very helpful and is great for listening to music. I can't believe how many genres it provides.

OK so I am a freak about these. They just work! We have 6 of these 2 echo's and a tap. So I would say we are advanced level users here. These get smarter over time and will learn the way you talk and ask question.
