    I have an older generation Echo dot, and this one is much better. Sound quality is surprisingly good for such a tiny device. I recommend this version over the regular 3rd Gen. The clock is not only hardy for seeing the time at night (we use it in the bedroom), but also shows you handy things like what volume setting you're in.
