You cant say Alexa at all in my house unless you are actually talking to her. It always hears you lol. The only time she doesn't listen well is when the volume is turned up and she's playing music. (The speaker is actually impressive for how compact Amazon got this thing... my klipsch sound bar is hardly used any more) and for smart bulbs to work you NEED a bridge that part sucks the only one you dont need a bridge for is the plus. The price of a bridge is about 50-80 depending on the brand. You also need to connect it to a smartphone for set up.

This was my second echo dot purchased. These are great for first time users. Very easy to set up and use. It does a lot like turning on smart lights and plugs. Changes the color of you lights if equipped all with your voice. At $20.00 what a bargain. This is a fantastic buy.

Does a great job helping you do everything from ordering items to reminders. I would recommend to anyone.

We have had Alexa for awhile and mostly use it just for music. I bought 1 of these for for each of my kids and they love it.

I purchased it on Thanksgiving Day and Best Buy has plenty for everyone. I never wanted a device like this but it’s a lot of fun. It was easy to set up and “Alexa” tells me everything I need to know. Wish the volume was a little bit louder.

These echo dots sound decent for what they are, so don’t expect amazing sound quality out of these. They are basically meant for whole home voice control in my opinion. One main problem I have had with these is when playing a game like song quiz. For some reason the speaker will just cut out right in the middle of a game and this has happened multiple times. I tested this on other echo dots and it does the same thing. I also tested it on my third gen echos and it does the same thing on those as well. The only one it does not do it on is my single echo plus. Not sure what the deal is with that but it is very frustrating.

Alexa connects with almost all my devices including my thermostat, security cameras, lights etc. Plus she can answer any questions I throw at her. Only down size is, it doesn't have a great music speaker - so I have her play my music through bluetooth to a good sound speaker.
