The clock is everything!

It also will display the temperature if you ask what’s the weather outside and also displays the timer if you have one running. The speakers are VASTLY superior to the Gen2 version

The Echo Dot has all of the skills of the original Echo

I'm not sure I could get by with just an Echo Dot, but this is an excellent supplement to the network of Amazon Echo devices (most with screens) in my home.
