I mainly play music through out my house all day and even when I am sleeping. I ask her for the weather and time. Silly questions for fun. I have the light bulb but have not set it it up yet. I take it with me every time I travel. Can't sleep without background music and the sound quality is awesome! I bought 25 of them for customer appreciation gifts!

Fire TV and Alexa perfect together

Alexa works seamlessly with my fire tv. took a little web research to connect the tv with alexa, but once connected there have been no issues. I set the tv to turn on with the cable and my elderly mother has no trouble tuning to the channels she wants. She has a bit of a learning curve with Alexa, but she is doing better.

I absolutely LOVE my Dot.

I am able to turn my TV on and off with it, switch input modes on the TV, get the weather, set reminders, etc. My favorite feature is the shopping list. I no longer forget to pick things up at the store. I ask Echo to add things to my list as I think of them. So awesome!

Just a heads up that if you're setting it up for someone less savvy, be prepared to get access to their account for multi-factor authentication. Great device for the smart features, not great as a standalone speaker due to limited sound quality, but can be hooked up to larger speakers via 3.5mm jack.
