    The dot is a great way to start your venture I to smarthome or a cheap way to add to it. The 3rd gen has greatly improved audio over the 2nd gen dot to the point it's usuable as a music speaker either by itself in a small room or paired in stereo with another.

    So easy to set up! Alexa is knowledgeable, she plays all my favorite music, and the family loves to play her games. I purchased one for both of my kids, gave one to my aunt, and we now have one for our beach house. A must have!

    It has better bass than Google Home Mini but it has limited functionality compared to what google can do. Maybe I'm just too invested in google's ecosystem to change.

    Sound quality is surprising good, no tin box sound. Hard to connect a devise to play music to the speaker, haven't spent a lot of time researching on how to do so. But the speaker listens much better than the Google home mini.
