We purchased the first Echo Dot for my youngest son. He quickly had it set up and soon my older son wanted one too. We returned to buy another from Best Buy. It was still on sale for Black Friday. We now have outlets and lights set up around the house connected to this. We are still discovering more and more capabilities from the Echo Dot. This is a helpful device to have around the house.

Love the Amazon Echo Dots. The Sound is great. Super easy set up

I've never had any "smart" items other than my TV's. I figured this would be a good and simple way in. It is very fun. Especially when you connect lights and whatnot. The sound quality while playing music is great and being able to connect to so many services is cool too. The sound quality while talking to someone in another room on another dot is not that great. I also, no matter what I do, cannot seem to connect to my FireTV to control it. Other than that these are a fun way to start making your home smart.

This was free with my Ring Doorbell purchase - thanks, Best Buy - and I am using it to replace (still working) 2nd Gen. The old device will be passed on to my aging parents who are getting great use of their devices for turning lights on and off, shopping lists and purchases. I have an Echo device of one kind or another in every room of my condo - loyal Amazon home!!

Music in the bathroom is much more enjoyable now with this great little device. We get the music, news and weather while we get ready in the morning. Perfect for our needs.

Had a first gen Echo since they came out. Mistakenly bought a google home mini when the dots were all sold out. The mini is horrible. Bought a dot when they came back in stock and couldn't be happier. Amazon leads the pack. This thing always hears me, has tons of answers for everything, controls tons of devices (lights, tv, thermostat to name a few) and is easily the best smart device in this category.

This is the perfect product for elderly people, especially if they live alone. It allows them the safety of being able to contact help if they have fallen and cannot get up. They are able to call for help by simply asking Alexa to call daughter or son or emergency. Simply program your phonebook with their name and number and they can just ask for the first name and then Alexa can call directly for help. This adds a very big piece if mind to know they can quickly contact you if they need help. It also answers questions like what time is it or what is the weather forecast. Or it will play their favorite music by just requesting Alexa to play their music. You can even program Alexa to turn on and off lights and other things at a certain time or on demand.

If you use Amazon at all this is a purchase that pays for itself. You can sync it with your Amazon account. I don't use the shopping aspect of it but mainly ask it questions or will have it play my Amazon music. Amazon music has such a wide selection and its volume gets really loud so you can listen to it throughout the house. It has been a big hit here.
