    We live in a 2 story house and shopped around for intercom systems on Bestbuy and Amazon. Even bought a wireless Panasonic phone system to use as an intercom. Returned. The Echo Dot Gen 3 works great to communicate with family members that may be in different rooms within the house. Drop in on someone specific (they also need to have a Gen3 Dot) or send an announcement for everyone to hear.

    I cant believe how useful the display is. It's a clock, it's a timer. I'll set the timer when I'm putzing around before work so I dont get sidetracked and show up late. For as simple the display is, it adds a lot of functionality for me. The display is a little on the dim side, but I think that's by design. It does change brightness based on the amount of light in room.
