We recently upgraded to the gen 3 dot and it was well worth it. its got a modern look and the sound is sooo much better than gen 2. its a lot louder and has better range. if you listen to music on your gen 2 you might consider upgrading.

This is the second Echo Dot I bought because I loved the first one I bought so much. My husband and I have fun just seeing all the things it can do. I never thought I would want or need something like this since I have a smartphone and laptop, but it is nice to have it tell you things while doing other things. We have yet to buy any smart items like light bulbs or thermostat, but it is capable if we do decide to. My favorite feature is being able to listen to any kind of music. Very easy to set up and use!

Had to download a couple apps. It didn't forewarn that you had a to pay an extra fee to basically use it with it's primary features. I think it was around $9-10, but applied for a "lifetime" of use. I got it for $18.99, so a good value at that price. Sound quality is fine. Very good voice recognition. I use it as a speaker in my bathroom.

It’s a great little device, love it as a speaker. I have it in my restroom, to put my jams while I shower. Totally recommend it.

I honestly cant tell you what the difference is between the last generation other than the very nice new design. This was a gift with a purchase and now i want to replace all of our dots to match!

I would highly recommend. It’s easy to use and not only will it answer any question you ask play music it also controls my out door lights my upstairs lights.

Alexa is a great smart speaking helping with phone numbers, hours of local business, playing game (Name that tune, escape rooms) as well as listening to Pandora, finding recipes and so so much more.

I just purchase a house and it is a smart home. Echo was included in the home. However I wanted an extra one so best buy had an awesome price and I purchase the Echo Dot (3rd Gen) and it has been amazing.

I love my Echo Dot! I have it connected to my Ring security cameras and other devices around the house. It makes things easy and very convenient! It was very affordable and I would recommend this to a friend!

This was one of my first Amazon echo dot. I fell in love with it. I have it in my living room so whether I am home alone or with company I am constantly using it for question answer to music listening.

The new 3rd generation Echo Dot works for me. Sound (especially music) quality is much better than with the 2nd generation. I also like the new square power; it protrudes much less into the room and does not block an adjacent power outlet

I love this item. Always wanted one so I could listen to the Eagles whenever I wanted to, really don't use it for anything else but my granddaughter loves it and likes to hears stories from Alexa

I love my new Alexa! I can listen to music while I cook and clean. Set cook times and my grandson loves to ask her questions! She also works with my smart TVs which I really enjoy

Okay sound but What do you expect from this portable device. For Under $20 it’s a great deal but you’ll be getting decent sound that can be paired with 5 other speakers

This is my seventh Amazon Echo dot...I now have them in just about all areas of my house to control all of my smart plugs and devices! They work great, and are very easy to set up! I have more fun using them! Recommend!

Got this for my mother who uses it for alarms, timers and listening to music. Audio quality was good on 2.0 but with 3.0 is even better. 3.0 is slightly larger and the fabric side shell makes it feel like a higher quality piece of tech.

Got this for free when buying an amazon fire tv. Very handy when you want to play music and use voice commands to switch songs, volume up and etc. Also the speaker is good although one day it sounded like it was blown out but it went back to normal a bit later. We never play it on full volume so no way it should have gotten blown out. We shall see over time if thats a glitch to it.
