This is a huge improvement over the 2nd gen. It looks better, feels like it is better constructed and most of all... sounds so much better. It’s much louder then the gen 2. Even worth an upgrade if you can catch it on sale. Mine came free with a blink camera... another amazon product.

This is a great smart speaker that has decent sound quality. I use it in my kitchen to listen to the news and music, but its main purpose is to control the smart switches in the kitchen. I have not had any problems with it and it looks and functions great!

We received this when we purchased a Smart TV and while we were hesitant to use it (after hearing how it can record conversations and all those theories), we ended up installing it anyways and haven’t looked back. Adjust settings if you don’t want things you say to be saved. We use it mainly for simple things like turning smart lights/plugs on/off, playing music, asking Alexa random questions, or adding products to our Amazon cart for later checkout. I’m sure we’re not using it to it’s fullest potential, but it does what we want and that’s all we can ask. Design wise, the color fit in well with our home, it’s small and fits anywhere for us, so we can’t complain. My only minor gripe about this is that sometimes it can sound muffled when speaking/playing music and every now and then we have to ask it to do something like turn a light on twice because it ignores the first request.

So between the app and the large number of integrated services you can get on the Echo, it's a pretty solid smart speaker. The Alexa assistant isn't perfect but works well enough. The addition of the electrical disconnect of the mic is the best addition. Sound is decent if you just want some music playing in the background while cooking or entertaining. The profile is one of the best features since it will fit in a small space.

I have a couple of other Dot devices from previous generations. This one definitely is louder and much more base. If feels more substantial in my hands too. Great for adding music to a room, or in my case I use it with my ring doorbell.

I did not find this easy to use, but that is because I use everything Apple. My 15 year old son ended up taking this and using it, and he loves it. Works well for him. He uses it to listen to music. The volume is loud enough for a teenager to enjoy :)

This is the second echo we own. It is easy to set up . We use it to play sirrusxm music a lot and as a reminder for things like a grocery list. Great item to have.

Once we got used to having an Echo, our kids begged to have one in their rooms. This device is perfect as it's easy to set up and fits perfectly in their rooms. Additionally, it's easy for them to move it from room to room or even plug it in outside while they're playing!

The Echo Dot (3rd Gen) is definitely a significant improvement tot he two earlier iterations of the Echo Dot family. The sound is louder and crisper, Alexa voice recognition and response is better, and the 3rd Gen Dot definitely, definitely looks way cooler than the earlier versions.

Purchased it on sale. Adds a lot of value to our lives daily. Examples: to check the weather, a stock price, listen to NPR news, find out facts about a country, etc. Good quality sound for such a small device. No issues with it staying connected online.

Easy to set up and Alexa understands my commands, just sometimes it picks up from conversations

Very smart and continent little speaker. Once you set it up you forget about it and helps with everything. Live playing music and settings up my home lights too.

I got this Dot device as the centerpiece of my smart home setup, and as a first time user of these voice assistants, I was really impressed. It does all the things you'd expect -- answering questions, setting timers and reminders, giving you weather info, etc. But linked to a Prime account, it also plays music on demand, perfect for those times when you just want to hear that one song. As a hub, it easily linked my Emerson Sensi thermostat, wifi lightbulbs, Sonos beam, and Wyze cameras (though as it doesn't have a display, it's unable to show actual footage). The sound quality is surprisingly good -- it really does fill the room with sound, and even has the (light) thumping of a subwoofer. I would consider getting multiple for different rooms in the house, to use as an intercom system but also an all-over sound system.

Excellent little Smart Speaker. It came as a free item with the purchase of a RING product. Gave it to my son who keeps it on his desk in his bedroom. Very easy to use, quite handy, and decent sound for a small room. He is enjoying it!

My origanal Echo dots started to go bad.(I got a lot of use out of them). The 3rd generations were on sale. A little bit larger and a way better speaker. Great Christmas present also for those just starting to use the Alexa products

Without a doubt - it's quite an impressive creature. It's not pefect...but no tech is perfect... and I love tech. So... Amazon added whisper mode today. Experiencing that today - was one of those very special "wow" moments.... I called my friends to try out that new feature...and they all love it. It does much more than I expected. For quite a while I waited, as I thought "I have my iPhone and Siri...why do I need Alexa?" Well, I love my iPhone... and am still very happy I now have an echo dot. I don't have any complaints- just look forward to the continued advancements Amazon's Echo team is making with the device. The quality of the device is excellent - and the sound it puts out- for its size... really impressive. Sure.... But is it fun and convenient to have.... absolutely. Very glad I finally got one!

Was skeptical at first but than found out what you can connect with alexa. Hooked up all our lights In house with WiFi switches. Easy connect for radio or music. Tell Alexa to purchase things from amazon. Make shopping list, adjust thermostat.

I absolutely adore this product. At night I ask Alexa to play Ocean Sounds and now I can’t sleep without it. I’m not sure if you’re worried that it won’t be loud enough because she goes pretty loud and she knows a chain of commands

Just hooked up this bad boy to my network and am enjoying listening to music or turning off my fan, tv or lights with voice control. I just picked up a second one during black Friday and can ask Alex conversion amounts in the kitchen.
