I have several echo products in my home. The ease of a smart home is quite addictive. This sleek new dot works great and is nice update to my decor.

After using it for some time, I’m really impressed with its performance, sound quality, and smart capabilities. Sound Quality: The sound quality of the 3rd Gen Echo Dot is noticeably better than its predecessors. Despite its compact size, it delivers enough volume to fill a medium-sized room. The bass is fuller, and the overall sound is more balanced, making it a pleasure to listen to music, podcasts, or even conduct conference calls. Alexa’s Smart Features: Alexa's voice recognition is remarkably accurate, easily responding to a wide range of commands. Whether you’re controlling smart home devices, setting reminders, checking the weather, or playing music, Alexa responds quickly. It also integrates well with numerous third-party apps, making it a versatile tool in daily life. The only minor issue is that it sometimes struggles with background noise or certain accents, but this is a rare occurrence. Design & Aesthetics: The Echo Dot has a sleek, minimalist design that fits well in any room. The Charcoal color is particularly stylish and blends seamlessly with most home décor. Its small footprint means it can easily be placed on a nightstand, desk, or bookshelf without taking up much space.

I already have the first and second generation Echo Dots installed in my home and BestBuy included a third generation unit bundled with a larger purchase at no additional cost. Aside from the ease of integration into my home network, the sound quality is a noticeable improvement over previous generations and rivals that of the original larger Echo. I haven't tried connecting it with external speakers. It's also better looking than the first two generation units (I wasn't sure of this until I actually had one). It remains to be seen if it will be as easy to keep clean as the earlier generation units over the coming years.

I've been a happy owner of a 2nd generation Echo and three 2nd generation Echo Dots for a year now, and I was glad to add this to the arsenal. After using it for a few days I am generally pleased with it, but it does have limitations, especially when it comes to sound quality (no surprise there!). I will start by summarizing what's new about the 3rd Generation Dot, then I'll describe the device in more detail, and finally I'll add some thoughts about how to choose which Echo device may be best for you. The most obvious update to the Dot is the new look: it's as if someone took a 2nd generation Dot, inflated it with an air pump, and wrapped the edge in fabric. And it's not bad! What's different/updated in the 3rd Generation Dot: 1) It is slightly larger than the 2nd generation device, measuring 3.9" wide x 1.7" tall (2nd gen was 3.3" wide x 1.3" tall), and the top and bottom edges are more rounded. It is also substantially heavier at nearly twice the weight of the 2nd generation model. 2) The 2nd generation Dot came in two color options (black and white), each of which had a shiny plastic exterior that I personally thought looked a little cheap. The 3rd generation Dot has a fabric exterior which gives it a classier appearance, and it's available in three colors: heather grey, sandstone, and charcoal. The fabric and rounded edges give the 3rd generation Dot a much softer look than its predecessor. 4) The 3rd generation Dot has a larger speaker (1.6", versus 1.1" on the 2nd gen), which is paired with a larger driver as well. I'll talk below about the effect this has on audio quality. 5) The placement of the microphones is slightly different: while the 2nd generation had seven small far-field microphones on its top surface; the 3rd generation has four microphones.

I noticed that my in-laws recently started using a Bluetooth speaker paired with one of their phones. Since I am already sold into the Echo-system (see what I did there?), I thought the Echo Dot would be a great next step into experiencing voice assistance -especially since I know they had Prime. The Dot is well made, looks nice, with a simple interface featuring the mic on/off, volume and power. It has a fabric finish around the device that hides the speakers. The physical installation only requires to plug it in. However, one must download the app and link it to an Amazon account. I did take some time in explaining how to use it to them. However, once everything was done and set up, it was easy to show them the commands, features, etc. They especially loved that they can listen to their local radio and listen to the kind of music they love. I think I may need to show them more commands on the next visit. They did tell me it could be a bit louder and I thought that it was a bit muffled. Also, the plug may be a little too big and makes it difficult to plug in other stuff on the same wall outlet. In the end, I think the Echo Dot is a great entry to voice assistance. It's relatively easy to set up and easy to use -especially if you have Amazon Prime. It is great for small rooms such as bedrooms as the sound is not as loud. Maybe the next step for them will be the Echo Plus?

I bought one for each of my 3 children. They loved them. Came with a free smartbulb as a promotion. One of my kids already had one so I kept it for myself. It's exactly what I needed for our bedroom. Small and fits great on our side tables. Love the new design. Was very easy to connect to all our smart lightbulbs and plugs and so easy to use.

So these things just seem to keep multiplying in my house, seriously it is the 5th dot in my house now and I've bought another couple as gifts for my parents, nephews and nieces. The pros: - Great hands free personal assistant, use one in the kitchen for managing the grocery and Costco shopping lists that can be accessed by me or my wife from our Alexa apps on our phones. - News and weather forecasts on demand, I'll ask for the weather and news updates as I'm getting dressed and picking out my weather appropriate outfit. Hate having to sit through the local news on tv waiting on the weather and this allows me to keep on doing what I'm doing and not have to pull it up on my phone. - In room speaker for music, my wife and daughter use it for listening to Spotify in a single room or whole house at times. - Controls my home automation, I've got it all set up to interface with all the things in my home that I have it set up for. - They blend in well with you house decor and are sleek looking. The cons: - Not really a ton, I have so much stuff between computers, devices, home automation and internet connected items that I have to carry a larger number of wireless networks and not bog down my network or speed. But that's more a me issue than a product issue. Highly recommend these Echo Dots for around the house and office.

The sound on this is absolutely incredible! Deep base and great range of volume. We used it outside while doing yard work and you could actually hear it over all of the noise. The sound is crisp and clear. Solidly constructed. Aesthetically pleasing. This is so much better than the previous generation! I couldn't be happier!!

So easy to use ! Sound quality for the small form factor is unbelievable!! Huge improvement over 2nd gen Echo Dot ! Elegant design and Alexa service works great with Spotify, Apple Music and iHeart Radio and many others ! I have four of these spread through my house and they can even play as synchronized rooms ! Price point is super competitive! One of my favorite purchases for sure !!

This is honestly one of my favorite items I own. It's very useful/versatile, and also works as an amazing speaker. That being said, there are a few small fixes that I hope Amazon can improve with further generations. I'm listing pros and con's below, but I definitely recommend the product overall. Pros: -Great design (looks very nice on my nightstand) -Amazing speaker quality - I can easily use this for small parties and gatherings in my apartment and the sound quality is perfect -Love the features (especially alarm setting, reminders, music options) -Directly connected to a smart plug so I can turn on/off my nightstand light with my voice. This is a really great future especially before going to sleep Cons: -Sometimes the echo dot's light turns on, even if I haven't said anything. This can be a bit inconvenient when I'm trying to sleep and I see green lights flashing. Maybe this is just a glitch because it happens occasionally

This was an update from my 2nd generation echo Dot and I'm glad I got it. It's bigger and looks more appealing with the ring around. It sounds great and has good multiple uses for my household. I especially like that it hears me better and from a farther distance than the previous generation.

I love the compact size of his Echo. It fits nicely on the corner of my desktop without being too noticeable. It is very sleek looking. Was very easy to set up and Best Buy threw in a smart lightbulb, which I had no problems syncing up.

Purchased the echo dot on a great deal. Got two for really cheap. Much improved speaker versus the older generation and the felt exterior gives it a classier look. My kids love them and very easy for them to use. Well worth it at the price paid.

This smart speaker with Alexa packs a punch! Nice volume and nice, sleek design. Works great with easy/fast setup using the Alexa App. Highly recommend!
