The third generation Echo Dot has much better sound than the 2nd generation. It is good enough and loud enough that I can listen to most music without connecting to an external speaker. I have 2 2nd generation devices and 2 3rd generation devices. Each are connected to my TV through TIVO and my Ecobee thermostat. Both 2nd and 3rd generation seem to have the same software. They are OK but often get the commands wrong, and you have to pick the right words. For example, if I ask Alexa to change the channel it will change my TV channel through TIVO. If I ask Alexa to change the station, it will pick some Amazon or other station. Also it will sometimes tell me that it cannot find TIVO or Ecobee depending on the words that I use when asking. The bottom line is that I like the Echo Dot 3rd generation especially for the $25 that I paid for it and an Amazon smart plug.

Alexa Echo is an excellent product. Very helpful. I am technically challenged so the initial setup process with the app was very difficult for me. Most people would do fine. I do not recommend the toll-free number for help. That was a terrible experience. Get a kid to do this for you. Since then I bought another dot and it was easy peasy.

First time getting into an Alexa device for the on sale price of 18.99 you can’t go wrong definitely will be upgrading to a nicer model in the future . Excellent for voice control of smart bulbs TVs consoles etc

This amazon eco dot it great, very nice and loud, easy to set up. I have two of them great system. Will get one more I think

I purchased the Echo Dot (Third Generation) in the charcoal color for use on my master bedroom nightstand. It is the perfect addition for a quick command about setting my alarm, playing some relaxing tunes via my Pandora and Spotify accounts, or asking the time and weather while I prepare for my day. Again, per my review of the Echo Dot (Fourth Generation), the clarity and volume of these devices are awesome!

I use the Echo Dot basically for listening to music and a few basic things, alarms, weather, etc. The only issue I’ve had is when I try to connect to my Sirius/XM, it immediately drops the boardcast after a few minutes. I also have Siri, and have no problem with it using my Sirius/XM. Want to learn how to control the lights. Not as easy as they say.

I love my Echo Dot! I brought one and turned around and brought two more to add more to the sound in the house. I love when have so much in my hands and I arrive home to just ask Alexa to turn the lights on, it is an amazing feeling! I must be honest I wish the sound was louder but I guess I could have brought a different one if that was a requirement when I was looking.

LOVE the echo dot. It is small and picks up my voice commands easily. the audio output is decent too!

So let me put it this way i have one in every room in my house. Easy to link up and great sound better than the gen 2.
