Music and Home Automation
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Primarily invested in a couple echos for playing music in our living room. Due to the Low cost and easy integration with other inexpensive home automation accessories such as light bulbs, smart outlets, and already existing smart devices like TVs and thermostats I quickly saw the value in acquiring more to use throughout our home. The echos are very inexpensive compared to other similar smart speakers and buying at Best Buy is convenient as they are always the same price as buying directly from Amazon with the benefit of same day pickup at a local store. Yes, Amazon is likely making this technology very affordable in an effort to learn more about you and profit off you in other ways but this is one of the few devices/technologies that actually has a meaningful benefit in everyday life so it’s a fair trade-off.

Awesome little speaker with perks!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great, links to my smart TV and iPhone without any issues. Able to contact family members in other rooms and notify me when I have notifications. Use it daily in every room of our house and in the backyard. The price can't be beat either! Sounds great and can be loud or as soft as you need it to be. My 74 year old father has even gotten the hang of it and loves asking Alexa questions and playing music of his era.

Even Better!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked two of them up, already set one up last night after getting home. I like my gen 2. 4yr old daughter uses my gen 2 echo dot to control the fire stick in the living room. I use it often for timers, date and time. Due to sound quality I use fire stick and not echo dot gen 2. The reviews I have seen are correct! This new echo dot has great sound. Blows the old one away on quality and volume. Fewer mics isn't a problem, it does even better hearing us. Plus I'm going from 1 to 3, multi-room is nice feature. I don't like my older one now, this one makes that seem like junk. Works the same, but big hardware upgrade, even weighs more. Night and day between new and old gen 2 echo dot!!!

Alfredo's echo dot
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good smart speaker! I can hear music from my Spotify account, and I can ask a lot of questions like the weather everyday, news from all the world, and all mornings when you say good Alexa Good morning answers the most important things that wat happened in this day. I can make and receive calls from other persons that have amazon and echo dot in their phones. And I use it like a clock alarm everyday.

Fun Tech Companion
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I keep this in my kitchen and cooking is way more fun with my Alexa dance parties and singalongs. The sound quality is decent for the size speaker and the price was right. Setting it up was easy.

Love technology
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one for each of my 3 children. They loved them. Came with a free smartbulb as a promotion. One of my kids already had one so I kept it for myself. It's exactly what I needed for our bedroom. Small and fits great on our side tables. Love the new design. Was very easy to connect to all our smart lightbulbs and plugs and so easy to use.

Amazon - Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Smart Speaker /Alexa
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Amazon- Echo Dot 3rd Gen. is awesome. I love the sound and the bass that I can hear very well when I am listening to music. It takes up very little space and I can move it to any location that I chose. It is easy to setup and does so much. It is an excellent product to have and very useful to have in the home...Love it!

Ok I said I wouldn't do the Smart Home product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I promised that would not do the smart home products especially Google. They are a scary company, however once I got the first Echo Dot I just could not wait to get two more for the house. Ir is so convenient and easy to set up. It syncs with Direct TV and actually works very well. The Fire TV are a little more difficult, but I love the way it keeps my calendar event, reminders, the ease of playing my favorite music. I'm now sold.

I Want More
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds quality is an definite improvement over the 2nd gen. So loud! Functionality is amazing does everything I want and need and even some I don't. I've also noticed a new feature was added where I can stream music across all of my connected devices. Its amazing. I want one for every space. Dont actually need it though since they're loud. Also, theyre really easy to set up. I have no complaints and the kids love it.

Great considering it was free, but would I buy it?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The answer is... It depends. I got this for free after purchasing a Blink XT camera and Alexa is, well, nifty. The concept of the Echo Dot to me originally came off as a novelty for people who wanted to be TeChY and tReNdY, but after having the device for a couple weeks, I see some utility to it. But also some issues. First off, the voice recognition is maybe a tad superior compared to Google and looks like a genius compared to Siri (I have Android, my fianceé has Apple. We... Have settled our differences). Asking questions while studying without having to reach for my phone feels ~oh so good~ and setting reminders, alarms, and... Well, that's pretty much all I've done so far. Because, well, the issues... The setup tutorial tells you how to connect your phone properly to the Alexa app. There's a problem, though... The directions don't match the interface. "Scroll to the bottom of the home page and select settings then..." but the home page only has tooltips for teaching Alexa things, and nothing in the settings has revealed much luck either. Which is a shame, because I'd love to have an easier way to send texts while cooking/cleaning/studying, etc. The other downside is more or less a fault of my own, though: I don't really NEED this. I don't have smart devices throughout my home like an advanced security system. I could upgrade my existing one, but the one I have works, and there's little benefit to be had. I could install smart light bulbs or even outlets, but the technology is still fairly new and the benefits of minor convenience wouldn't warrant the entry costs. So where does that leave me at the end of the day? Well, if you're a tech savvy person with multiple smart devices and home systems and have some disposable income to get everything connected, then I wish you the best in your endeavours and recommend you get this! The build quality is robust, the speaker is adequate, the microphone will pick your voice up from the next room, and the accuracy is great. But if you don't have the time/money/know-how, then perhaps you can still buy it if you can get it for a reasonable price. It is neat to have, and if you can get it fully connected to your phone, it's a great little assistant.

Echo dots are great home assistants
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So these things just seem to keep multiplying in my house, seriously it is the 5th dot in my house now and I've bought another couple as gifts for my parents, nephews and nieces. The pros: - Great hands free personal assistant, use one in the kitchen for managing the grocery and Costco shopping lists that can be accessed by me or my wife from our Alexa apps on our phones. - News and weather forecasts on demand, I'll ask for the weather and news updates as I'm getting dressed and picking out my weather appropriate outfit. Hate having to sit through the local news on tv waiting on the weather and this allows me to keep on doing what I'm doing and not have to pull it up on my phone. - In room speaker for music, my wife and daughter use it for listening to Spotify in a single room or whole house at times. - Controls my home automation, I've got it all set up to interface with all the things in my home that I have it set up for. - They blend in well with you house decor and are sleek looking. The cons: - Not really a ton, I have so much stuff between computers, devices, home automation and internet connected items that I have to carry a larger number of wireless networks and not bog down my network or speed. But that's more a me issue than a product issue. Highly recommend these Echo Dots for around the house and office.

Great little tool
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that I was completely anti-listening technology in my home. After a long discussion with the wife, we compromised and she bought one. Since I lost that battle, I have installed 3 others in the house. I haven’t regretted it. I bought some wall plug mounts that make install super easy and I can hide them behind furniture for a less cluttered look in the house. The Amazon echo is actually a great tool for your smart home. Yes, they are listening. But so is your phone. I like that I can play my music on multiple devices so I go from room to room if I’m cleaning or putting away folded laundry. I don’t use my stovetop timer anymore, I just tell Alexa to set a timer for me. If I’m working in the garage and my wife needs something she can drop in and we can talk completely hands free. Which is great when my hands are too dirty to mess with my phone. I use the Alexa app for home automation. It’s nice because I can shut off the whole house while we’re away. if we’re gone for extended periods of time I can have random lights turn on and off around the house so it looks like someone is home. I also have routines for waking up, getting ready for work, going to bed, and even for when I’m in different parts of the house. I have tried home automation with the Google apps, the Apple smart home app, and all the various ones that come with each device I have installed. The Alexa app is the most comprehensive. There is still work they can do to make it better, but it works far better than the others for our home setup. The bad: the app doesn’t allow for multiple users with different Amazon accounts within the home. You have to have every device setup on the same account. My wife and I have separate EVERYTHING. So, sharing an Amazon account is less than ideal. We listen o different styles of music. We shop for different types of items. She reads mystery novels and fiction, I don’t read. Plus, getting gifts for each other is a lot harder when you can see the same Amazon purchases. With that said, Amazon support is amazing!! I have given feedback multiple times and each time they have responded quickly and ensured they understand my issues. I’m sure there is plenty I didn’t cover because there are features I simply haven’t used yet, but overall I give the echo dot 4 stars.

Great sound and voice control
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Echo devices are excellent. You can play music from the Amazon library and your mobile devices just by saying “Alexa, play Nina Simone”. Nina starts. What else could you want. Reality Check: 1. These devices listen to what you say even when they are turned off. 2. They are designed to connect to other Amazon Echo devices - when powered by a battery during blackouts. This feature is suppose to serve as a ad hoc neighborhood Wi-Fi network during outages by monitoring other detected devices and analysis of the signal as to how strong and how far away the device is. YES, your annoying neighbor could have a device that is able to connect to your Echo and then can store the things you say as well as remember the products you use. 3. The Echo listens while it is turned off. As you go about your daily routine, Alexa listens for any keyword contained in any one of the many lists created and maintained by Amazon, known as lexicons or lexical lists. Basically, categories like shopping can be broken down into subgroups like pets, hygiene, auto parts, etc. So while the device is off it can still hear you, so just unplug it when it’s not in use. Other than the spy-tech Echo is awesome.

Amazon - Echo Dot (3rd Gen) - Smart Speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We received the Echo Dot - Smart Speaker from a promotional purchase. Since we have a few of them around the house, we decided to give this one to our daughter. She absolutely loves it, she uses the device all through the day. She is 11 years old and is constantly listens to music and the sound from this little device is more than enough for the room. Her speech isn’t the clearest and often times people have difficulties understanding her. Not saying these devices are perfect, however I’m pleased that she rarely has to repeat her self. This is something that means a lot! She gets rather frustrated having to repeat something over and over again. She also uses the Echo Dot for assistance with spelling difficult words and when she has a spontaneous curiosity about something that peaks her interest. They are excellent devices and are a great tool to have. Make sure to look at parental features.

Another Echo Dot!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love placing these in different areas of my home so when in that room you can listen to music, find out the weather, etc... this was inexpensive for adding to another room when we are in it and like to have music. For what my use was this works for me and all we needed in this room. Love the voice activation on these and ease of use through this feature. I have heard others that have better speakers however, this was inexpensive and they work with all systems. Meaning the Apple Home sounds amazing as does Bose, Sonos, other Bluetooth speakers, etc. but I only wanted something quick, easy, and inexpensive to play music without connecting or using my phone or needing to have an Apple product around to operate it. I like how the Echo Dots work via WiFi with an Amazon Prime account and can do so much for so little. This was an inexpensive solution for what I wanted in a small room.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these first for my Mom to be able to hear here TV without upsetting the whole house with the volume. She could turn it up and down by voice. Unfortunately, her TV decided it would not play nice and it will not play through any more. I bought one for myself to be able to turn my bedroom lamp on and off without having to fumble around in the dark, and it has been wonderful. I also enjoy getting the time when I wake up through the night as I can't see well enough to read my watch. I get the temperature whenever I have things to do outside, and a weather report each morning. When I have trouble sleeping I have Dot play me music until I fall asleep. I set timers so I don't forget to do things, and I use it to get up at a certain time when I need to. It lets me know when my Amazon packages have arrived so I know to go look for them before they get stolen or rained on. I wish I had one in my car!

Fantastic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound on this is absolutely incredible! Deep base and great range of volume. We used it outside while doing yard work and you could actually hear it over all of the noise. The sound is crisp and clear. Solidly constructed. Aesthetically pleasing. This is so much better than the previous generation! I couldn't be happier!!

Amazon Echo dot vs Apple HomePod mini
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I compared this to the new Apple HomePod mini. The Apple HomePod mini has a better sound, but neither are audiophile quality. For the $, this is far superior to the Apple HomePod mini which costs more than 3X more. On sale, this Amazon Echo Dot is around $20 with tax. The Apple HomePod mini is $99. Alexa is more capable than Siri. Hope this review helps.

Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, this is not the normal Amazon Echo so the sound is not quite as good, but it is still an amazing device. I upgrade from the 2nd Generation Echo Dot and I am amazed by the improvements. The 3rd gen Dot is worth the price even when not on sale. The sound coming from this little device is amazing for such a compact system. Deeper base than the previous version as well as highs. This is perfect for an office, dorm, or bedroom. It works well in a home kitchen, but I find the full sized Echo to sound better when competing with the sounds of cooking and the overhead range. If you are interest in having an adorable Echo connected to your more expensive sound system, this is a perfect purchase. In addition, the 3rd Generation Echo Dot is capable of connecting to nearly any Bluetooth speaker or headphone. I have personally pared them to my Bluetooth Bose AE2 SoundLink Headphones for a more "considerate-of-others" listening experience. I have also connected this Echo Dot to my Bose SoundLink Mini II portable speaker to play music while sitting outside by the firepit. My final thoughts are simply this; "You Won't Be Disappointed!"
