Customers are saying

Customers regard the Echo Dot (3rd Gen) highly, praising its sound quality, ease of use, and compact size. Many appreciate its affordability and straightforward setup. While some users find the bass lacking and occasionally experience issues with Alexa's responsiveness, the positive feedback on other features outweighs these concerns. Overall, the device is seen as a convenient and valuable addition to the smart home.

    Improvement over Gen 2

I have an echo dot (gen 2) and i use them throughout the house for just about everything, being i have a fairly smart home. What I liked about the gen 2 versions, were that they were compact and very flexible on how you could use them. They were easy to mount in different positions and you could really be flexible on how and where you mounted them. The one thing that they really missed on? The well known sound quality. Enter the Gen 3... I really like the improvement in sound. Sure it is not a high quality speaker system, but for the size it is pretty good. Especially when you consider that you can pair them and add a sub for pretty good sound. The look is improved over the gen 2, however it does lose a little bit of the customability that the gen 2 had. With the gen 2, you could purchase different wraps, stands, clock mounts, wall mounts, etc. You could really customize it. The gen 3 is a bit bigger and has a much more rounded shape. it lacks the ability to really customize it. It surely would not work as a power socket mount, like you could do with the gen 2, just due to the additional weight.

A real bargain for decent sound quality. Amazing really for such a small size. Low cost makes it practical to have multiple units in different rooms.

I needed one more Dot to finish setting up my home system, which is an Echo on each floor in the main areas and a Dot in every room. I had been buying second Generation Dots at Christmas sale prices and was quite happy with the result, although they were sometimes troublesome to connect to the network. Not real trouble, just persnickety. I received a notice that the newer Dot was on sale at a slightly higher price, but i had bonus cash so I went for it. The sound is better than the older Dot, and the setup was SO simple, not even the tiniest of hitches. I may just replace all of the older dots, when the right sale hits, of course. LOL

By now, Alexa has become part of our family everyday activity. From controlling the TV, lights, dropping into kids bedroom. My wife uses Alexa in the kitchen to set timers when cooking, ask for recipes (she has the Alexa show). We needed a small Echo for the living room to control the TV as the one in the kitchen does not always hear us well from the family room. We got this one as a freebie when we purchased a Ring camera. The setup was simple, it easily gets added to existing account. Sound quality is better than the older Echo dots and mic detection is improved.

I have always used Google devices but I got this because it came as a free item with my Ring Peephole camera. As it turns out, I actually like this device. I can use it in the same way that I use my google hub devices. I have it synced to my peephole camera, so it tells me when someone's at my door. It sounds great for music play - to be such a small device. I likes it so much I ended up purchasing a second one. I can use it to drop in on the kids and make an "announcement" when I'm away from home. It can sync to your streaming music accounts as well as Audible.

This dot paired with the Sengled bulb has been so amazing! I also added a TP plug and that's cool too, and it turns on when it shouldn't, but with voice command I can turn the plug on and off with ease. Not sure if the issue is with Alexa, the plug, or my old 1950s wiring. The routines are fantastic because I can have the lights on just before I wake up, so i can see where im going. The voice commands work really well, but yiu do need to be sure to put in all the different ways you would say the command like, "Alexa, turn the lights off", and "Alexa, turn off the lights". If you don't do that for some commands, she won't recognize what you are asking her to do. Adding other devices is semi-quick and easy. Linking two dots for speaker purposes is fairly easy too and they work really well for streaming music between rooms. I'm looking forward to using the announcement feature, and really wish I had it when my kids were younger. I have not tested it yet. I gave these out to a couple people as gifts, and at $15 each with a free Sengled bulb, I could not go wrong. Bought one for every room in my house, including the garage. Even hooked them up to my Nest thermostat easily. I do have issues with my Alexa TV. The dot initially connects, but then can't make the connection with the TV most of the time. Not even with voice commands.

Not a whole lot to say here. Just buy it. It’s the best budget smart assistant on the market, sure its not quite as intelligent as google but it has much more compatibility with a far greater range of products so it makes up for Alexa not being quite as witty as google. I have so many echo products, I bought this one for work. Our lobby at my clinic didn’t have any speakers and the company was too cheap to buy some so I just picked this up for the lobby music and its perfect. Simply the best on the market. Get it

So I bought this speaker not knowing what to expect or how useful it may prove to be. I just bought because it was on sale for $19 and I was putting some WiFi switches in my house. This little thing is great. The sound is surprisingly full and it’s very useful from turning off lights by using voice to plugging a 3.5mm wire and connecting it to my receiver so I can control my music through my “dumb” receiver by using voice commands. Highly recommend it at regular price, but when it goes on sale it’s a must buy.

This device allows me to control smart devices in my home, listen to radio broadcasts around the world and even call family members in other rooms or around the world. I can set timers and do all sorts of other things with it. The possibilities are pretty endless really. It seems well made and is a big upgrade on the first generation one I already own. I have it set up to give me a news update, traffic and weather report before I leave for work. There are many other “skills” that can be set up and the Alexa devices can be used with iOS and Android devices as well.

I just fell in love with this little thing. First one ever and I’m a big electronic person. It’s small and fits perfectly on my night stand. Controls my lights and tv. The volume is perfect for when I go to sleep with music on and perfect when I want to hear it loud not not so loud as to disturb. Nice little gadget. My brother will get me the one with a display as a gift. Can’t wait.
