When you don’t need a video the Echo Dot works great. I use it to turn my smart outlet outside lights on and off with just my voice and can keep it in the cabinet where I have an outlet. I can turn it on to play music to keep myself entertained or listen to a podcast wnd the sound is good.

Nothing like integrating smart home into your bathroom! I didn't think it was appropriate to to put the Echo show in there, so got the dot. I bought an and outlet bracket and this hangs off, out of the way (with the cord hidden). Great for setting a timer while getting ready or enjoying music (and singing along) in the shower.

I've never had any sort of system like this before so it was very new to me but I got used to it really fast. It's easy to use and I love commanding music every 5 seconds with Alexa! ... I got it for free with a tv purchase but I would definitely purchase it again if I had to.

What can you say? It's simple, sleek, a little bit bigger and heavier than Generation 2, but this Dot delivers a much deeper sound. I do appreciate the sound upgrade. The bass is much better sounding to your ears. And there is a slight acoustic vibe to the lower range. The only thing I am not a fan of is the cloth material around the side of the device. Overall, it's a nice upgrade.

Purchased on Line through Best Buy, a simplified purchase and quick pick up at store. Bought as Gift for Christmas, they loved the products looks and appeal; Quick set up with App, and away they went with playing Music ,to doing grocery lists, and setting house settings. Awesome will definitely need to purchase more for around the house.quality and feel are very refined. great Buy.

affordable and easy to install and connect to devices

I purchase a TV and received this as a free add-on. Being able to ask just about any question and receive an answer is great. My kids have one in their room and I bough an echo show for kitchen, and now we can communicate with each other throughout the house. You can play music, hear the news, set alerts and alarms, etc. It's such a useful little gadget.

I honestly never wanted Alexa but this product came free with my tv so I tried it out. Now I have this product on my Christmas list because I need one for every room of my house. It's super convenient and totally fun bossing Alexa around. I paired her with the tv and the lights in my room, it was surprisingly easy. The speaker sounds great. Definitely recommend.

Never thought I'd own one of these things as I don't like the idea of some of piece of technology listening to my conversations but now I figure what's one more smart device. It's kinda neat and I like telling alexa to do stuff without having to pick up my phone. She plays music and answers questions- that's about as far as I've gotten.

Have you ever thought about how close we are to the future portrayed in Star Trek? Their communicators? Our cell phones. Medical imaging? Check. Turn in reports on tablets? Ditto. All hundreds of years ahead of time. But the best is when someone would enter a room and call out "Computer. What is the current status" of something or other? Or ask for music? Etc. This is almost there. I have several Dots and their Echo hub to handle other smart devices. It is an easy setup. To get started, you will need a (free) Amazon account, a smart phone and wifi. Bought the first one for an elderly parent for help in answering and making phone calls. Turn off and on lights. Worked great. I now have several scattered around the house plus the version built into the 2 new Toshiba Fire TV's purchased from Best Buy. Also controls a Nest thermostat. But it all started with a single Dot. This 3rd generation looks and sounds a little better than the last model but is pretty much the same. And watch for special pricing - I paid $25 for this 3rd generation model. What do you have to lose by trying it? Still some issues in being fully implemented but getting better all the time. Besides updates, Alexa learns from how you use it. Do you NEED it? No. But did we need cars instead of horses? Jets over propeller airplanes? This is part of an interesting future. Hop on and enjoy. Still no sign of food replicators yet, unfortunately.

good buy, nice sound, not to big, easy to set up and use

We have an Echo in the kitchen and a Echo Dot in each room. The setup is simple and it’s great to have music and Alexa wherever we want it, and the speaker sound and quality is very good for such a small device. They are so easy to use that even our 2 year old can tell Alexa to play songs she wants to listen to! Definitely recommend.

Echo devices are addictive! We got the first one and set it up in our living room. For the price, this thing is brilliant! We have several Dots and a couple Echo Plus units now. Apart from the normal Alexa stuff, we use them for multi-room music and as an intercom system around the house. My son has a blast asking Alexa to make farting noises and to tell him jokes. These are so affordable that you can have a lot of fun with them! The mic pickup is pretty astounding and the speaker really isn't half bad. I like that I can set them up in stereo or connect them to bluetooth speakers as well.

Works perfectly, easy setup. It’s my second Echo Dot. Currently working from home so set it up on my desk so I can listen to my music and request changes and turn on the light near me without yelling to the Dot in my bedroom. Just needed to assign a different name for it to avoid confusion. Would highly recommend.

I have lived abroad in Asia for the past 6 years. I am finally back. That being said, I have not had the opportunity to experience the Alexa/Echo smart home devices. I received this free with my purchase of an Insignia Fire TV and have fallen in love with it. It's small, lightweight, but powerful enough that I can give commands from my kitchen to my master bedroom where the Echo dot is based. I was pleasantly suprised that by that. I've bought Merkury Innovations smart plugs and smart bulbs. They all work pretty well with my Echo Dot. I am waiting for the APC surge protector to arrive. Moreover, it is nice to be able to control my Fire TV handsfree with the Echo Dot. I am enjoying it so much that I have already purchased a seond Echo device.

I didn't know how lazy I could be until I got this. Now I have it turning off my lights, fans, air purifier, and answering daily things like the time or weather. Love it. Only bad part is that my fan seems to change different commands every few months, but I think that's the fan developers fault and not the device.

Great product ; My son loves it. He uses it as an alarm clock and forgaming as well. This was a Nice gift with purchase received it from Best Buy with my flatscreen purchase. Set up what’s a praise and the Echo Dot interfaces with a lot of things in the home.

The grandchildren are better at getting the fun out of this product. Very versatile and easy to use. I use it as a timer and weather service. Who wouldn’t enjoy some instant knowledge without starting the computer? Simple to setup and always ready to give you information or a good laugh. The fact that it was free with the TV purchase made it even more fun.
