Echo Dot is an inexpensive way to control a better stand alone speaker and does this well.

Set up took much longer than expected, but it works well. Unfortunately, we don't have a smart phone, and the app doesn't work with MacBook Air, so we had to enlist the help of a friend....after we spent quite a bit of time online and on the phone trying to get help. Would prefer it had a clock face, but it has been very useful as a timer, to play a variety of musical genres, to be able to skip a song you just don't want to hear again, etc. We won't know the quality of it until we've had it much longer. The voice quality could certainly be improved to be sharper.

This little thing is so fun to play with. They sound great and it is simple to use.

We got this free with a purchase of a Smart TV and are surprised how much we use it. It can answer almost any question we throw at it - like trivia, the weather, etc. When we would normally google something, we just ask Alexa instead. Plus having a timer, reminders, and notifications on Amazon orders is quite convenient, too.

I love Alexa, this device really surprised me, sounds good an easy to install.

I have one of these in just about every room of my house now (eight in total) I use these to change the temperature in the house, turn on lights, set the security alarm, and even ask it "how many teaspoons in four ounces" while in the kitchen, etc Pretty nifty capability for the price. I even have them juiced into my pandora account and can play whole house music simultaneously while hosting parties.

This Echo Dot isa great product and very easy to use. Synced up right away and has great sound!

Initially got the echo for Christmas and didn’t think it was a need, until we hooked it up to a hard to reach lamp. Since then we’ve bought the Echo Dot for our bedroom, as well as several Smart plugs and Smart bulbs for around the house. Having our lamps and even our Christmas tree activated by voice command is such a game changer. Life is so much easier now, especially with our hands full holding baby. We can dim the light with our Smart bulb for night feedings and even change the light to all sorts of colors just for fun. We can play music from Pandora over the Echo, play all sorts of games and even ambient sounds for baby when she sleeps. No need for any other sound machine or gadgets. We don’t know how we ever lived without it. The hubs and I definitely recommend this product. Even bought a couple as gifts.

Seriously, if you're feeling down, ask it for song! Need information, ask what you need! Need cheering up, ask for a joke! Can't remember stuff, create a list! Baking a cake, set a timer! Forget people's birthdays, schedule a card to arrive in time!

I use this to tell me what the temp is outside, I walk by it and say add eggs to grocery list, I ask what reminders I have for the day, my granddaughter even uses it to help with her weekly spelling words, I listen to music on it everyday and I have 6 echos in my house and it is cool I can say play music everywhere and it plays through out the house, it will even read me my books I have in my kindle app. Buy this it is GREAT and very user friendly.
