Echo Dot is my way to get to Alexa. Alexa is my go-to when I want to know what the temperature is outside or what the day’s weather will bring. In combination with another device, we use Echo Dot and Alexa to shut off a lamp and turn on a nightlight. Echo Dot and Alexa tell us when an Amazon package has been delivered at the mailbox. We enjoy the convenience and you will, too.

I've never had any "smart" items other than my TV's. I figured this would be a good and simple way in. It is very fun. Especially when you connect lights and whatnot. The sound quality while playing music is great and being able to connect to so many services is cool too. The sound quality while talking to someone in another room on another dot is not that great. I also, no matter what I do, cannot seem to connect to my FireTV to control it. Other than that these are a fun way to start making your home smart.

I waited a long time to get one of these because I wasn't sure how much I would use it. Well, I use it every day. Alexa plays music for me, tells me the outside temperature, sets multiple cooking timers. Works as a bluetooth speaker for my computer. I am sure there are hundreds of other features. I don't even have any of the smart appliances to go with it, but I still love it!

Great speaker. Looks better than the old one. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I’ve never been good with technology, but this is super easy to set up and use. I still haven’t even used all her features but I love how she can make the shopping list for me and I can view and check off items at the store. I can’t wait to slowly connect everything thru Alexa

To be honest, I just got this out of curiosity to see what it could do. My wife is pretty skeptical about having one in the house with the report of these things recording your conversations. I didn't get this with the intent of doing any home automation. I did also get an Echo Show that I connected to the Ring doorbell to monitor the front door. So, it doesn't get used around here a lot except to check the weather, monitor the Ring doorbell, ask an occasional question, and stream the occasional music. I'm actually impressed with what this thing can do. Maybe I'll find more uses for it.

Great sound for such a little speaker. This is our 3nd echo and we put it in the kids room. Helps with bedtime stories and jokes when needed. Although very corny jokes, we all get a laugh.

Great speaker. Made a stereo system with two dots. Love the ease of use

good Echo unit. Didn't realize it had a power brick plug (small and unobtrusive) so couldn't use my built in USB plug that we used with the 2nd Gen Dot. Fabric cover is nice, blends in with decor. You won't use this as your main music playing device, but it had good sound, My granddaughter loves listening to the rain sounds app to go to sleep.

I have several spread around my house as I have many Amazon Plugs, Hue bulbs, and a few other devices to control. The Guard feature really works as it detected my dogs nails on the floor as they played. It did sound like glass breakage. I was able to listen to the trigger sound and drop in to that particular dot to continue listening. Really neat feature I appreciate.

Echo dot is very nice. Excellent sound quality, easy to set up.

I’ve never used these before, but I got one with a purchase and we all love it! I love being able to have music play by just telling Alexa what I want to listen to, my kids love playing with it by having her tell bad jokes and making gassy noises. I don’t like that it HAS to be plugged in for it to work. It’d be nice to travel with it as a portable speaker.

This product was purchased to replace an earlier model. It has a better overall look and a slightly better sound than before. The performance is about the same as the earlier model. If you are getting a new echo device or want to upgrade the looks, this is a fine model. I would recommend waiting for a sale before purchasing which happens frequently.

Easy to connect to devices and use. Picks up your voice through loud background noise.

I control my lights, outlets and TV with this device. I have another one in the house too. I need to get two more so I can control everything else from anywhere in the house. Oh, and I have a Bose SoundTouch Portable on WIFI Connection. Alexa controls it too. Super cool to live a life like Star Trek in the year 2019. I plan to buy more Alexa controlled devices in the future too.

I got this for free when I purchased a tv. It really surprised me at how far Amazon has come with its AI technology, I’m an apple user. Alexa is very intuitive and I appreciate how user friendly and creative this speaker functions. I have it right at my front door so I can see when I have notifications. It’s very nice.

Sound quality of the 3rd gen much better than the 2nd gen. Otherwise both work well. I found this out by getting a 2nd gen and returning for another 3rd gen. Initially I found it a little confusing to setup through the app. Once I realized what to do it went well. I've used this more than expected, wasn't certain where to keep it and therefore got a second. It's a big plus if you have streaming SiriusXM.

It’s great. My boyfriend needs to get up every 4 hours for medications and well when your half asleep and trying to reset alarms etc it isn’t too easy. I got him Alexa in order to preset his multiple alarms and so that he can voice command it which is far easier then manually trying to stop or set alarms. Game changer. It grew on him.
