Was going to buy one for the ladies room. Then I saw around xmas time they had 2 of these for like $42. So I hot the one for the ladies room and replaced the older one in our living room. Glad I did because the newer one sounds so much better. Gave our echo dot 2nd gen to my pops and he loves it.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He uses it in a room that is off of the garage. It’s nice to be able quickly contact him or ask a quick question with the Drop In feature. He likes listening to music, asking Alexa questions, and so much more. Great sound from these small devices.

I have several of them in my house. Each room is linked up with the lights in the room. So nice to be able to control lights with my voice. I do have a difficult time trying to set things up though (in terms of voice commands). Apple Homekit it just so much easier for me than Alexa.

I love the echo dot.. it connects to devices very easily.. love that it connects to my phone when I listen to music around the house

Sound is very clear and microphone is very sensitive despite surrounding noises. Alexa works great on it. Impressive sound for its size!

There are SO MANY things you can do with this speaker! I planned on just using for streaming music (great sound) but have: ordered groceries, connected to smart home products, used for research, and more!

Great sound and easy setup. Works as well as Gen 2 but looks better (not like a hockey puck, lol) and sounds better. Get one.

I have 4 of these Echo Dot's installed throughout my home and find that they are an excellent, inexpensive solution for supporting voice commands which are used to control a variety of brands' devices. The Dots are small enough to place virtually anywhere, and when purchased on sale, are well worth adding to any home which uses IoT devices (plugs, switches, cameras, blinds, A/V, thermostats, etc.). The Echo supports an excellent range of manufacturers and devices for voice integration. The speaker on the 3rd gen is much nicer too. I don't rely upon these for much audio (i.e. I don't play music through them), but it is still nice to have a quality audio speaker for feedback/responses.

Love it! We have a lot of fun! Lots of jokes, good with music. I will not lie, my technology skills aren’t the best though, which can make understanding what she can do a little difficult. Alexa app could also be clearer. It can be difficult to understand

Very responsive and the speaker is super crisp especially when using it just for music! I’m definitely gonna buy more for my other family members!

Gifted this to a older friend who has a strong accent. I was quite surprised that Alexa was able to comprehend his voice instructions so easily. The Echo is almost a "companion" for seniors, especially those living alone. They add in to their routine. He texts and emails to family and uses this to assist with spelling.

Nice sound quality especially if you are listening to music. Easy to maintain and works well with the plugin.

Small and compact. Easy to plug and use. No problems with it so far but I think it listens to every thing I say.

This was amazing, I use it to play my music and use it to ask all different types of questions and it solves all of them. Amazing item!

There is a lot that Alexa can do, I bought smart plugs and connected them through the house on all my regular devices as the plugs are really cheap lol, and connected them to Alexa and now I am as lazy as comfortable enjoying a smart home, Alexa turn off the coffee maker

I use my Alexa almost everyday! I love that it’s so easy to turn on and off appliances when I’m doing other things around the house. Only bad thing is if you know someone named “Alexa” it hears it all LOL. But just turn off the listening and you’re all set.

It was free, and I wanted another anyway, to compliment the three other Echo devices in my house. Sound is not quite as good as the 4th gen. IMHO, but not bad either. We use this in my music practice area to call up versions of songs my band is working on. It's also nice when grouped for the whole house with the other devices.

Significant upgrade over gen 1. Much louder, clearer sounds for Music and detects your voice better. Also nice that it has a built in battery to move without loosing power. So far happy with the upgrade.

Lots of fun beyond the music. Games, alarms, reminders, Echo Dot does it all. Weekly emails keep you posted about different things to try with it. And the music is absolutely tops! Just ask it to play whatever you like and you’re instantly rewarded with good sound.

Great device, much improved over the prior generations. Better design and speaker. Function is the same compared to earlier generations.
